250 Creaking recaro

Discussion in 'Electrical & Interior - Security, ICE, Wiring Loom' started by -Chris-, May 16, 2017.

  1. Anyone else suffered from this.

Not all the time, occasionally when shifting my weight in the seat, I hear and feel a noticeable creek in the back part of the drivers recaro. The base is fine, as are all of the fittings that I can see/reach.

My initial diagnosis is that something is loose and needs tightening, within the confines of the upright element of the seat itself. How much of a PITA is it to strip the back off and have a closer look?

Should I take it to a seat specialist / recaro before it gets any worse?

  2. Seat belt buckle, a touch of wd40 around the nut area.

  3. Mine seems to clunk a bit when you pull away. It's going in for Renault to look at it. Seat seems solid so not really sure what it is in my car!

  4. Thanks, but it's not that.

More clunky than creeking now I've thought about it. Similar things massivewangers issue. I'd be interested to see how yours is resolved.

Sadly, mine is out of warranty. So visiting a dealer isn't an option.

  5. Well i wd40 everything and tightened everything with no joy, then noticed the buckle, wd40 around the nut area between the seat and the bracket, and hasnt done it since, give it go, wont cost or loose anything trying. Suprised me tbf.

  6. I had this on a Recaro in my old Clio 200, it was replaced under warranty, I know this doesn't help you much but just to let you know it's a common fault.

  7. I'll update when I hear from them. Mine is just out of manufacturer warranty but I've only just bought it so have warranty from the dealer i got it from. Going to be interesting to see see what comes of it.

  8. Delayed update to this. Had to wait ages to be able to have a courtesy car! Mine has now been into Renault and they couldn't find anything wrong with the seat. They did notice, however, that the seat mounting bolts weren't fully tight, which is a bit worrying. They re-torqued them and it now seems a lot better. Not really heard it make a noise since.
