MK3 Chrome Exhaust Trim Flaking

Discussion in 'Megane Discussion' started by Ben Jones, Apr 29, 2017.

  1. Anyone know where I can get a replacement exhaust trim. Noticed the chrome plating is cracked and peeling off. Don't know if this is common or previous owner has used something they shouldn't of to clean it

Seen the streamline carbon fibre one but can't justify £200..

  3. Did u do that yourself? Was thinking of trying some chrome spray paint but wondered how easy it would be to get all the loose surface off to get a good base to bond to

  4. Think yours would be not worth spraying if its cracking, might be worth wrapping it though?

  5. I would like to get the handles done, the primer silver does look a bit odd against the rest of the car

  6. I might try a chrome wrap then. I've just done the badges in carbon fibre wrap and found it an absolute ball ache of a job to try & not get creases when moulding it to shape. Hopefully the exhaust trim is an easier job!

  7. I got the chrome stripped off my trim before painting, nice flat base to work from

  8. I got a company called sprayshack to do them, just posted them off

  9. Looks broke to me.

  10. The trim? It's the chrome plating, it just sort of cracks/flakes off

  11. Probably cheaper to remove, and send it off to a crome plater, get it done properly, or paint it black.

  12. It's made out of plastic, the chrome part seems to be some sort of 2nd skin, I am refurbing one at the moment and it ish peeling from the back
