It all depends what you mean by bedding in, I bedded mine in as i had read about and they were fantastic. There was a guy at Spa he was complaining his brake were shite, he bedded them in for 5-600 miles, told him to do a couple of laps and bed them in how i dd mine and then said it was a massive improvement.
when i fitted my carbotech xp8`s,they had a specific bed in process that i failed to do before i went to the ring. messed the pads right up. They were amazing on the road..but after a few laps of the ring they went right off. I then had to phone up carbotech,so they could tell me the process to bring them back..stupid error. cl6 a similar pad,so maybe you need to do similar. the xp8`s came with a fact sheet on how to bed them in.
Yeah, I am sure there was some sort of sheet with them but I can't find it. Any ideas? Ah, found this on their site : CL Brakepads have a minimal bedding in process which means you can fit, do two or three medium compression stops and you are ready to race.
From memory, 75% braking effort from 80 to 30mph, 5 or 6 times with a couple of minutes cool down between.
I was always told do a few (say 3 or 4) 80/90 emergency stops down to 10/20 in a row straight after each other and then go for as long a drive as possible without touching the brakes to let them cool right down. I.e. late night on a quiet spot on a duel-carriageway/motorway where you can just drive for say 10 miles afterwards without having to touch the brakes. You can usually get 1 or 2 done on the slip road and then the other 2 in the slow lane – obviously you’ve got to choose your spot! This has always worked without fail for me.
bed new sets of mine in before with about 3 warm up laps before going for it during qualifying. but I prep the pads by scoring them with a rough file couple times then put them on, just prevents any glazing over during first few high temp presses
CL's don't require any special bedding procedure, just drive as normal. If it's track work, then do a warm up lap to bring them up to temperature.
