175 DCI Number plates

  1. Just about to change some plates over and need to get a new set made up.

I'm aware of the legislation which includes plate suppliers name and postcode.

I don't want "Halfords blah blah" or "platinum online plates" or similar on the plates.

So apart from show plates, anyone know of any ate suppliers (including main dealers) that have minimum to tasteful company names made on the plates at issue?

  2. Demon plates are good with a very difficult to see dealer info on bottom corner WP_20170423_11_12_49_Rich.jpg

  3. That's exactly what I'm after. Nothing in the centre?

  4. The centre is reserved for your own lettering hence info on bottom corner

  5. Best thing to do, is get what plates you want, and then keep your old plates like i have, and stick them on for the MoT

  7. My local does everything to the letter, can not blame them really, VOSA can sit outside their garage, access all the mots the have done, and then pounce :tongueout:. i am not convinced this happens much though, unless they have had a tip off or something

  8. Demon Plates do what you want, although they aren't cheap.

I don't think you can fail the MOT for not having a BASU mark etc on the plates (although I understand you shouldn't...) so I've taken the chance with an eBay seller who claims to put whatever you want (or don't) on the plates.

  9. Really interesting points guys!

The guy I've used the last two years is convinced I'm VOSA because I like to watch the MOT, am an Englishman in Scotland and wear a shirt and tie for work. Not doing myself any favours but at least I know the cars up to spec.

Anyway, back to plates. So you're saying I don't actually need the legislation bit about where the plate was made and that bsau bit or I do and should have two sets?

Was going to get a Renault dealer to make some but then they all come with the franchise name on them.
My plate currently says "Martins Renault" under the main lettering. Martin being the dealer name, not mine [emoji19]

  10. Need - yes (legally - there are exclusions but wouldn't apply in this case) - construction & use.

But I couldn't see a reason for rejection in the MOT manual for missing BASU / manufacturer markings, hence why I plan on risking it.

  11. Well my MOT isn't due for another 11 months.

So can anyone recommend a decent supplier in general?

I recall buying some of an auction site years ago for a TVR and they were rubbish. Font was almost purple!

  13. Is it just a plain font plate you require? I could get them made for you in work.

  14. Front and back following a reg transfer.
Yes just a plain standard, no border, or flags, or slogans type plates. Although as I see you are a Renault employee, Renault or Renault Sport would be fine!
