So this has not been the year for the Meg and me. Con rod let go 5 days before my first race. Got a fully forged lump to find the turbo was toast after driving 3 hours to RS Tuning. FML. Anyway I have a 250 turbo in hand getting fitted this week and decided after the money I have spent going racing does not seem like a great idea so I have decided to give Time Attack a go. Less likely to smash into someone else or they into me and still be able to tear up a track or two. The Meg should sale past 300 brake with plenty of torque as got uprated cams sweet!!! So there is a reason race cars don't use drilled discs, cracking due to the heat cycles over time. I have just purchased these form Godspeed just to tie me over until o go for a floating disc setup. Should be good. Running Mintex endurance pads from Kevin over at Questmead, who is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to brakes and will be going to him when I upgrade to floating discs as he supplies a lot of the BTCC teams. So with the 250 turbo will you see 300bhp plus and are you running a standard internal engine out of interest. Seen a few new 250 turbo for sale on eBay and was wondering what the benefits are over the mk2 turbo when remapped
I guess I will find out lol No I am running a brand new forged lump with catcams and uprated valves. Old turbo had it and could only muster 259 bhp on .5 bar boost, so pretty much all engine. Latest update. Visit to RS Tuning with the 250 turbo fitted. Obtained 311 bhp and 330ish torque. I now understand why everyone uses Paul as well, what the guys there don't know is not worth knowing when it comes to meganes!! Anyway only need to get an extinguisher and all ready to go. As the previous post said I am doing Time Attack at Snetterton whether I will be competitive is doubtful but I am giving it a try and will have fun doing it, that's the point isn't it?? I think I will be in Club FWD (front wheel drive) tough class as seem to be a couple of cars that win every round but I will have a go just to see if I like it. Yeah there are some really quick cars there, my mate has done a couple of rounds this year and will be doing them all next year. It's all about taking part mate as the winners are all big money no expense builds.

Good update! Car is with Andy at Engine Dynamics to get remapped with the new fuel system and restrictor. I am now officially entered in the first round of the BARC South East Tin Tops on 25th March at Brands Hatch. Cannot wait!!!! Just got the car back from Andy at Engine Dynamics. I must say what a great guy! Really felt he knew what he was doing. The car is running 302bhp and 343 lbs/ft of torque which is great as it is running a 38mm turbo restrictor. I cannot recommend Engine Dynamics enough! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
A couple of videos from Brands Hatch trackday. Tyre pressures far too high to start with then all sorted by reducing the rear tyrepressure a psi lower than the fronts but destroyed the brake pads so a new set of Mintex F2R pads on already to solve the problem. Then water got into the uncovered fuse box (no I did not know this was the case LOL) so now obviously this is covered and sealed . All in all a successful test as I picked up on a couple of things that have been easily sorted and also learnt more about the car, I guess this is why we test!!! Better to happen now than on race day!
First Race Meeting VIDEOS BELOW So had my first ever race yesterday and to say it was awesome would be an understatement!!! [emoji108][emoji16][emoji469] First ever qualifying and had a spin (hence part 1 and 2 as engine cut) and qualified 6th!!! Not bad!!! First race was mayhem after an aweful start but plenty of door to door and overtaking!!! Finishing 7th was more than I could have asked for!!! Started 7th and I think I got up to 5th in race 2 I was under pressure and plainly bottled it and spun off at Surtees again [emoji30] but finished a respectable 12th after making up several places! So after all that I was 2nd in class for race 1 and got Driver of the day!! Picture of the trophy and bubbly below [emoji106] To say I am still buzzing is an understatement!!!
