R26 Pilot Sport 4's - how long do they last

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by Nunez20, Mar 21, 2017.

  1. hi,

I know these have been around for awhile now, how are they wearing? I had some eagle f1 asy 3's on the front now but they have not lasted that long and was not overly impressed with them. Reading up the sport 4's seem to be the best in class but don't really want a tyre that only does 10k miles.

    Thanks

  2. I've had mine on since Sunday and they're doing ok.

Joking aside, I got 20k plus out of the original PS2s so I reckon these will go just as far.

  3. yep..about the same for me...just dont get conti`s..6k and gone with 5p`s!

Contis are well know for not lasting that long

  6. Hi Lewis. If it's 235/40/18 PSS you need I have 3 in great condition. 6mm of tread.

  7. on my second set and did 20000 miles of mix driving round twisties and motorway very happy with them.

    For me best tyres around

I have had mine on the back of the car for just under a year. They initially wore fairly quickly but have settled down now and look like they should do somewhere between 15k and 20k miles. I still have PS2 on the front and the tyres are so similar one can mix them like this without it negatively impacting the cars handling. For me this is great as Michelin claim much better cold and wet performance plus my own experience confirms similar dry performance thus they seem like the ideal road tyre at this point in time.

  9. PSS's or PS4's dude? Also why you selling? Any pics? Thanks.

  10. It depends entirely how you drive... you could get 20k or 1k

  11. I've managed to do just over half the tread depth on the Conti 5P's that came with my Seat Cupra 290 in just over 3.5k.
That's been since last October where it's only been dry weather for about 15 seconds as far as I can tell...
They've got a treadwear rating of 240 I think - I'd go and check but it's raining again.

  12. thanks for all the comments, will pay the extra and get the PS4's for the front and eventually the rears - the rears are old f1 as 2's and have done 20k miles and 2 track and still have loads of life left. They must have gone backwards with the 3's, but I appreciate the rears get a lot less wear

  13. I've had Michelins for years on all my performance cars and rate them highly. Never had any issues whatsoever. Great tyres.

Im about 7 k in on my PS4's and have barely even worn.. im expecting around 20k out of them

Had dunlops on when i first got the car and they were dead in 6k!

  15. well ordered two PS4's for the fronts, £125 fitted seemed a good price so they are coming to work on Wednesday to get them done, thanks for all the help

they do a PS4S now too - I'm sure they were to replace the PSS's

  17. Not in 18" yet sadly

  18. Yes I saw that too. I guess they're a go between the cup 2's and the ps4's.

  19. My PS4s have lasted 8k with one track evening and being driven "spiritedly" most weekends. Good tyre, it had PS3 on the back, when I swapped around the difference is night and day

  20. PS3 was the successor to the PS Exalto which is a sport touring tyre developed for Clio 172s.

PS4 is the successor to the PS2 and has far more longevity built into it.

  21. PS4S is the replacement to the SuperSport so yeah, somewhere between PS4 and the Cup2

As a side note: I hear on the rumour mill that PS4S is due in March 2018 for 18". Woohoo

  23. How are you guys getting 20k miles on a set of fronts? Don't you 'drive' these things? :flushed:

I've chewed through 2 sets of PS2's in 20k miles and the rears aren't far behind now. No track days.

  24. Dunno. I did 25+ (fast) laps of the ring and two trackdays on the original PS2s. Changed the fronts at 20k.

  25. Have to say my pss have lasted really well but I've just noticed he inside edge on the fronts is completely mullered now ![emoji15]
