Being very new to Meganes, just wanted a bit of advice. I know that people mention that the front suspension can be a problem. Are there any specific symptoms of this? Or is just likely to knock over bumps or pull a little under load? The car I'm looking at is a late 2013 with 11k on the clocks, so obviously pretty low mileage and only just had its first MOT. It should be in pretty good condition in theory as it's essentially still new from a mileage perspective really. One thing I have noticed from the pictures is that the front tyres are Avon, which I guess is not a factory-fitted brand. How long should I expect the front tyres to last? As the car has only done 11k, I just wonder if it might be a sign of a relatively hard life? Is there anything else that I should be keeping an eye out for, or any specific issues to be aware of? It's a Cup chassis car with leather Recaro seats, xenons, RS Monitor, it's even got the optional gear knob lol. I hope it's in good order because the spec and colour are spot-on, but want to keep a level head and be thorough with the inspection as it is quite strong money.
yes knocking from the front can be signs of worn balljoints on hub carrier, expect around 10k miles on front tyres depending on hard its driven.
Bolster wear on the front seats. Alloy wheel condition especially if the Trophy red lip 19's. Knocking at the front could be ball joints. Tyre wear. Brake pads and discs. Check Mot for advisories of any. HAGGLE! Sent from my ONE A2003 using Tapatalk
Temperature gauge(water)check it works , clunky door straps when opening doors, panel gaps. If you havent heard one before, then you may think that the stereo is broken, its not, they are f**king dogshit in these cars.
Thanks for the thoughts everyone, all good to know. It does have the Steevs in black w/red lip. If I buy it, they will be replaced with some 18s of some wort, as the ride is too hard on 19s lol. Haggling is definitely going to happen. While I don't mind paying a bit more for the right car, I do think it is a little on the high side.
Well, deposit paid. It was a touch more than I wanted to pay as it has pretty crappy tyres but, given that it only has 11k on the clock, is the right spec/colour, having discussed it with 'er indoors, we decided to go for it. I did manage to knock a decent chunk off the asking price still, so can't complain too much. It's red with black roof, has Cup chassis, leather Recaros, RS Monitor (not that I knew how to work it, but it said Renault Sport on the central display), 19" wheels, Xenon headlamps, even has the optional metal gear knob. Collecting in a couple of weeks so more to follow then.
Always be wary of cheap tyres, as people skimping on those might also do so on other maintenance, but sounds like you got a good deal. The RS Monitor is activated by pressing both buttons on top of the radio stalk behind the steering wheel.
It had been leased I believe, so I guess the owner chucked some cheap crap tyres on it before he gave it back. It's a very late 2013 car with 11k on the clock so it hasn't really had all that much maintenance yet. Rest assured, in my possession, it will get everything done properly. The tyres don't worry me too much as I'm probably going to ditch the 19s for a set of 18s. The roads are awful in my area so 19s punish the spine a bit!
Hi to all. Im also going to buy megane rs 250. But cant find ideal variant for me. One of them has about 80K miles in CUP version . Car used for every day, not racing etc. Also second variant has 20K miles and non cup. But i like first one so much, cup and my favorite yellow color. But i worry about mileage. And how long f4rt engine in megane could stay alive, even if i check compression and turbo.
