275 19" Wheel Recommendation

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by CraigCup-S, Dec 13, 2016.

  1. Currently got STEEV's with winter tyres. Not a massive STEEV fan I must admit.
I've come into a bit of spare cash, so am planning on keeping the STEEV's for winter only and getting a new set of 19" wheels for spring / summer which I will put my Cup 2 tyres onto.

    Any recommendations?
I've got a price for getting new Turini's (and centre caps) for £1700, but is there anything else out there with similar size / offset?

  2. Get some 18's :tongueout:

  4. Why would you take 18 inch? 19 looks better from every angle ...
I've got 18 inch but only for winter due to the snow chains (skid chains, what's the English name for it?)

  5. Big wheels for looks (although they look a bit council IMO), small wheels for function (and looks for me).

  6. 19"s for me every time AND I've got a mint set of 18" Tibors.

  7. Team Dynamics TD3 19 x 8.5's (245/35/19) are an excellent alternative to the Speedline Turinis (similar weight to oem 18's too).
18's look way too small in the big arch diameter of the meg3 imo.
The quickest of the meg3's (275r) came standard with 19's & set the ring record on 19's so don't believe the talk about 18's being a quicker option.
Ive also just sourced a set of custom made 20 x 8.5's (245/30/20) for road use.
Yes the smaller sidewall profile of larger rim/tyre packages can be a little choppy on rough roads but that can be dialled out with quality damping.

  8. I have both 18'' and 19''. Handling, balance, steering responce are all better on 19'' (with 050A tyre) but the car is more crashy and less comfortable on bad roads especially at low speeds. You need to be more carefull on 19'' but you can't have it all isn't it?

  9. I was in the same situation, but 19 inch winter tyres were double as expensive as 18inch ones and also alot less choice, so I traded my 19 steevs with worn tyres for 18inch tibors with new winter tyres and bought autec wizards for summer.

  10. Or maybe it's done for marketing reasons ? On a serious note, the best track focused Megane 3s seem to be on 17'. I wonder if a LMP1 would be quicker on 19 though ?

Totally irrelevant for road use anyway, where line of sight, traffic and licence preservation seem to be the prime factors...not to mention driver skill.

  11. tsw nurburgring look fabulous on the mk3

  12. TSW Nurburgring are excellent indeed! Or the Turini set? In black ...

  13. I've already got the tyres - Cup 2's, so 235/35, hence my requirement for 19's folks.
This is my second mk3 Megane on 19's and I am happy with how it goes on them.

Would 235/35 work with the TD 1.3's? Also would they require spigot rings?
I do like the look of them and they are much cheaper (more than half price) than the £1700 Turini option.
I do prefer the look of the Turini though, just not sure I like it £800 more.

  14. Maybe I do like it £800 more.......

  15. How about Oz Superturismo 19x8.5 with offset 38.
Would that work with 235 wheels and not compromise things?

Tight with that width and offset, I had 18x8 ET35 and they would fit with stock setup, just about, would of benefited from some camber though.

9j ET53 is probably the perfect fitment for them.

  17. 245's are the correct sizing for an 8.5 width but 235 will work at a stretch (literally lol).
No spigot rings needed as Team Dynamics manufacture the rims to suit the 60.1 specific hub size (4 week wait).

  18. I think I'm going Turini route.
Would rather spend the extra and stick to OEM.

    Thoughts on these?
    Can be had 19x8.5, 5x114.3, ET58. 9.6kg. CB 75.
Looking like £1050, so just over £600 less than Turismo's.

Keep changing my mind, £1700 for the Turini's is seeming too much.

  20. I like them! There's a guy from Warsaw who posted a couple of days ago running these on his, they look spot on
I assume you saw that post?
Where are you looking at getting them from?

  21. Yeah saw that post, have asked a few questions.
They are advertised on Wheelbase for £1089, not £1050.

  22. 9.6kg is light. How does that compare to the Turinis ?

They look good, Decent size and offset as well, Will be able to get away with running them with no camber on the stock setup.
Will just need spigots to suit the Meganes 66.1 CB

  25. The pic of the silver/grey Megane has sold it for me I think.
Looks like the centre caps might fit too.

Will give Wheelbase a call before Xmas.

  26. That trophy R above looks awesome.

My Trophy has 18's and have MPSS's fitted. I want some 19's too but I only like the OEM 19" wheels. They're about 1440 a set from Renault last time I priced a set up.

    They have arrived.
Will get them onto the Cup 2's in early Spring so will get some on car pics then.

Will likely sell my STEEV's then, so if anyone is after a set give me a shout.

  30. Nice ! Looking forward to seeing them on the car, might get a set myself

  31. Wow they look great

  32. Not much different looking than OZ Ultraleggeras, but yes nice indeed !

  33. For info the stock Turini in 19inch is 10.9kg when I weighed mine.

The TSW's look best value in the 18's and 8.4kgs. Wish they did them in 19!

  36. Hi could you tell me the exact size of the wheels you have and the tyre sizes you will be using on those 19s nearly ordered some but it does become a real minefield. The fond metals look great and I am getting some just want to know what you have chosen. Thanks very much Jon

  37. Here's the info:

    8.5x19 5x114.3 ET58 Fondmetal 9RR (MATT BLACK) 75
I'm going to be putting my Pilot Sport Cup 2's on which are 235/35/19.

I've not fitted the tyres to the wheels, nor the wheels to the car as yet.
Will do so early April I think.
