Exhaust recommendation

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Lambouk, Feb 27, 2017.

  1. Hi. Can someone recommend me an exhaust for my RS250. Not too loud but something with a noise like an Impreza STI.
    Thanks for any help.

  2. It'd be next to impossible to match the sound from the STI due to the different configuration of the 4 cylinders. You'd only end up disappointed.

However, there are some improvements that can be made. Ultimate cheap is a mid box, or back box removal, all the the way up to akrapovic and cgr on here making exhausts out of stainless, titanium or even inconel!

  3. Thanks for the help. I just want the car to sound good in normal driving and when I put my foot down. At the moment it sounds like a Ford Galaxy. :-(

  4. I got a custom made cat back from EMP and a decat.

It's on the loud side lol some people say it's too loud, but seeing I drive it everyday, I've gotten use to it now.

  5. I had the CGR cat back system and quality is fantastic and second to none.. definitely recommend them

  6. Impreza sti configuration piston are positioned horizontally as opposed to vertically in the Megane. The more common term used for that specific configuration know as a boxer engine.

It sounds like to get the exhaust note to your liking a bespoke exhaust from CGR would fit the bill

  9. "sounds like a Ford Galaxy." if your Megane RS sounds like a Galaxy somethings badly wrong with it. !!:screamcat:

  10. My advice would be first to get the mid box chop, for the sake of £60 it's worth seeing if that gets you closer to what you want, I'm very happy with mine after that and saved myself lots of £££.
If it's still not right for you then look at replacement systems the £60 isn't the end of the world then.

  11. Thanks for the help. Yeah. I'll go for a mid box chop 1st then a st/st exhaust after that.

  12. I have seen a few posts where people have had the back box chopped instead, not sure which i would sooner do

  13. Middle box is the easiest to do, its just a straight pipe. Love mine.

  14. I have got a CGR system and love it.

  17. Getting my middle box chop done Wed, see how that goes, then might treat myself to full system next year

  18. How much is it for a CGR system?

  19. Been really happy with the center box chop btw , pops a bit in the lower gears, not so much in the higher gears. Will still sort a full system next year i should think, either pro speed, or maybe CGR as they are so close to RS tuning, i could kill two birds with one stone

  20. About £890[emoji6]

  21. You'll be chuffed with the middle box chop, best noise for the money.

I switched to a 3" ktec exhaust for power reasons but only regretted it because it doesn't sound half as good as the box chop!

  22. Thank you
