265 K-Tec

  1. Had my Renault Megane RS 265 a year now, and apart from fitting x 2 front Yokohama AD08R tyres which are amazing, I have had no other mods. However, next week K-tec will have the car and fit:What power gains should I be expecting?

    KTR FULL EXHAUST SYSTEM WITH SPORTS CATALYTIC CONVERTER
    NEW KTR MEGANE 3 RS INDUCTION KIT
    Performance Pack 1

  3. lol, here we go again, the usual Ktec thread, where half the people will say dont go, and the other half say they are fine....

    I should think you will gain about 40bhp, but hard to say

  5. Which sports cat did you go for? i see they do a 5" version too. You could ask them to do a before and after power run
     
  6. Isn't that the point though? Surely 100%(ish) should say to go.

    If 50% say not to, then given that there are other places to go and the risk inherent with your own car and money, I'd say that's a pretty damming indictment, and vote with my feet.
     
  7. So K-Tec have been in business for around 15 years, have grown significantly over this time and within the last couple of years have moved into much larger premises. They develop their own products, have workshop capabilities and export products around the world.

    Somehow I don't think that they only have 50% of their customers satisfied with their service as no business would survive, let alone grown with that low customer satisfaction. I would even guess that nowhere near 50% of their customers go onto forums and post about their experiences with the company.

    As others have said, if you want to know what sort of gains you may get, ask K-Tec as they're the ones you're paying to conduct the work.

  10. I am going for this kit..
    KTR full turbo back 3" (76mm) bore stainless exhaust system with built in 200 cell, 5" high performance sports catalytic converter.
    I think the performance pack 1 includes the pre and post dyno run....
     
  11. Hi I am doing the same next week rs tuning though Miltek exhaust with turbo back sports cat, KTR induction, plus an intercooler with turbo cooler I hope to achieve 320ish on a 250 Cup.

  12. I'm also going with this apart from I'm getting a upgraded intercooler ! For my R26.
    Been to Ktec a few times no problem

Just wanted to say when I discussed the build on my car they were super helpful and really professional couldn't do more even offered to lend me a car for a week to cover the 600 mile round trip just to help me out. With RS so close didn't make sense. I wouldn't have thought twice about using them.

  14. Bit pointless saying don't go somewhere and not giving reason why! People come on forums to asks others experiences and opinions. Isn't that the whole point of using a forum? In relation to Ktec, I brought my modded liquid yellow R26 from from back in November. No issues at all, and David at Ktec was very helpful

    I bought my 250 from them in December 2015, and he was very helpful and has been since if I've ever had any questions for him.

    I would recommend them, I've never had any work carried out on my car by them, but I'm assuming I wouldn't have any issues, if the service department is as good as the sales/after sales department.
     
  16. I purchased my 250 cup in november 16 had great service plus had remap and inline air filter . Result 278 bhp at the wheels
     
  17. I think threads like this carry a lot of weight and are looked upon as an invaluable resource for those that are researching where to/not to spend their money. After all, where to get better feedback than from actual RenaultSport owners.

    I bought my RS from Ktec and was well looked after. I was back there last week for the belt service and they genuinely made a significant effort to fit me in much sooner than was initially suggested simply because it was more convenient for me. The work was carried out as expected and I was entirely happy.

    So as a happy Ktec customer, I recommend them and will be back there for future work.

    Its the same with every company, You always hear the bad stuff. I have no issues with Ktec and they have helped me out in the past, if they were local to me id probably use them as well.


    Their tuning has came on significantly from the older days, Mainly down to their "mapper" having moved elsewhere.


    I've also head some bad stuff about RST, before all the fanboys jump in and suggest them. As i said though, its always the bad stories. Ktec cant be that bad seeing as they get customers coming from all over Europe!
     
  20. I have just bought a 2010 250 Cup from KTec and they've been good with me. They're a bit keen on pricing but they are a business afterall! I think anyone at all on any forum that has a negative view on a subject should be expected to speak with authority and openly about why they have that view...otherwise....ignore.

    I had the exhaust you're having fitted to my car before I collected it and it's a nice piece of kit. The bore is a good size and the noise is nice and raw on startup and under light throttle, it then builds aggressively under heavy throttle. There's a few pops and bangs on the overrun if you like that sort of thing. The decat and exhaust will probably lead to more torque/faster spool up and cooler engine bay temps (cat is further down the chain) at a guess. My car was running 301hp from an RS Tuning map and I'm yet to get it checked/updated.

  23. Mines in tomorrow at RS Tuning sport cat exhaust Milltek ITG induction kit new intercooler with turbo cooler and a remap will wait to see how it is on a spirited drive back into the Yorkshire Dales

  26. ^careful - you'll incur the wrath...

    I'd personally do some research before deciding where to go when spending serious money. If the OP, or anybody else, does this they will find some less than complementary posts, but of course - you pays your money and you takes your choice.

    I've only personally used them for mail-order stuff and the service was atrocious.
     
  27. Ha ..... try working for Tesco like me, seems like we're the most hated company in the UK and can't ever do right.

    Ktec on the other hand ..... I bought my Red 250 Cup from them in October 16, great service and car was prepared very very well before sale. I'd return to them with no concern.

    Good luck with your tuning upgrades, also interested to hear what the gains are from this.

  29. Just arrived at Ktec, initial results are 316bhp and 325lb
    They are still tweaking it on the dyno
    Very happy with these results!!!!

  32. Yes that was my error turned up yesterday with 95 in the tank Andy looked at me like I was a fool. So Paul did the map and got to 300 on shit fuel going back in a week after running 99 then get it mapped again. Didn't get finished till after 6:30 last night.

  35. Take my hat off to the boys at Ktec, they were supposed to shut at 12:30 today. But they still here at 1:20 trying to sort out a knock on the dyno!!
    Can't fault the service to be honest!

    306 BHP
    321 Lbs

    lets just say the ride home was nice

  38. Never. It's a remap on a stick car with some breathing mods. Those figures on the wheels is just about achievable with a turbo swap.

    Setup on my car was
    2,75" downpipe 200cell sportkat
    Midbox delete
    Airtec stage2 intercooler

    RSTuner since i live in sweden,
    Running on 98fuel

    Had to go to two different dynos due to Paul blaming the dyno..
    275hp on stock Map, 290hp on remap
    And dyno nr2.. 283hp stock Map, 299hp remap.
    So i gained a 15hp increase on remap and mods

    Sick and tired of trying to tune this piece of shit car..
    Now running a full 3" turboback-katless and ktr-induction..
    Think i will also order k-tec remap because of the missfire and powerless results so far...
    So either its the shit EMS 3125 or Pauls Map is no good, think were at map nr 5, and still cannot make it work.
    Havent had the car on dyno after fitting exhaust and filter..
