Hello Went to go and see my 1st 250 today, Seems like a good car, better put together than my T and i did quite like the grunt when you plant you foot down, did not have chance to test it around any twisties though . I found the seating position a bit high, but at the same time it seemed a bit lower than the clio as you are more stretched out. Nearly snapped my head off about 4 times, the brakes take getting a bit used too, the car seemed very quite compared to mine, but then i have no center box. The ride quality was not as hard as i thought it might be. The car is at a Subaru dealership, and they want 10.5k with 57k on the clock, the bodywork looked very good, could not even find any car park dints. I should be able to get them down to 10k. Is this about right for the market atm? I can post a pic if you would like, see if it is known on here? its just north of Derby atm Thanks
Yeah it is the Cup, no Recaros, but not a fan of them anyway, i love the full leather ones, but they spec me out of my price range . no RS monitor, its a generic autotrader advert as well, so does not list exactly what it comes with. I was glad it had the different alloys on it, do not like the diamond cut ones, or what ever they are lol
Have you checked the documented service history ? Is the cambelt due soon or has recently been done ? Condition of consumables ? Tyres, pads, discs ?
Iv been looking for one too and sounds like a decent deal obviously dependant on condition. Theres not many for less than 10k that are clean with the belts etc done. As above tho, its what it might need, belts and tyres etc. Can easy hike your outlay.
Cam belt has been done recently, tyres are good for many more miles, bit did look like they had been fitted with ditch finders lol. disks and pads looked fine, plenty of paper work for regular servicing, and minimal advisorys on mots, worst one was lights set too low
I'd say there's something wrong with the brakes on the Clio... Ditch finders are a bit of a no-no to be honest. I'd budget for a new set of performance tyres, otherwise what's the point of buying the car? Who did the cambelt? It's worth checking as you'll know from having the Trophy. It will be quite compared to a standard Clio even, never mind a modified one.
Cam belt was done at a Renault dealership, can not remember which one. they Tyres were £60 a corner when i looked through the paperwork. can not remember the brand. I was a bit surprised to see the tyre well was still there, i thought they did the same as the clio and got rid. Has anyone on here had theirs cut out? and a straighter exhaust fitted?
Thats quite a basic spec, Personally id hold out for one with RS monitor, Xenons at the least. I regret not getting one with Xenons now. As for the wheels well, I wouldn't bother, theres a few track cars with them replaced but its a weight thing more than anything.
Well i am still hunting about, after advice on parts of this forum, think i will hold out for one with Lux pack or full leather recaros, light pack, rs monitor. Have had a good look at color options and would really like either, White, Blue metallic, Black, or grey. Messaged a dealer today and they tried convincing me the remap on the car was better than it having RS Monitor, so was no loss not having it. Am i expecting too much for a low mileage 2010/11 plate to have had the belts done? as they would really need doing this year, otherwise i think it would be tempting fate
If the belts aren't done, use it as a bargaining tool to get the price of the belts removed from the asking price maybe?
Off to look at another one wed, 2010 60k, £11k, has rs monitor, lux pack, light pack, has just had 2.5k spent on it doing belts, full serve and 4 new tyres. No paperwork for lower ball joints or swivel joints ever being done, said he will put 12 months mot on it
All home safe and well, turns out this one is a full fat with cup pack. Seems to have been well looked after, last owner swaps car every year, put 40-50k on them in a year and then moves on to the next one, so it does not devalue the car to much. Only problem so far, is trying to remember i have a 6th gear lol, the windscreen wipers tripped me out keep changing speeds, otherwise all seems well fingercrossed
Congrats - nice choice, but I can't help thinking you'll miss the Trophy. I think they're set to become a future classic in a way the mk3 Megane never will.
Yeah i will 100% miss the T, but mine has done 120k, and although i have spent 4k ish on it in 4 years, it has had a rough life. It will still hold a good value, and cost me £3800 4 years ago, and its now listed for 5.5k
Yeah, I saw the mileage in your for sale ad. When we're all shackled to auto-box force fed self driving rule following monstrosities, the old Trophy will be seen as a marvel among few. Good that it's appreciated in your hands though
