Hi all Went to drive a Cup for the first time today, it was a brief drive and I didn't really get to put it through its paces, but it felt fast when I had chance to use full throttle in second gear when the turbo lit up, but a bit laggy compared to my N/A car of course. I was surprised how fast it felt tbh and would have loved to drive it properly on some decent faster roads with less traffic The driving position could be better I thought too, the seat base seemed to be tilted up at the front too much, can it be made to be flatter? Overall I consider one instead of the M3, I like how the car feels small around you and nimble. I had the sport on, but wasn't clear what it was supposed to do and the ride was very hard on the 19 wheels, probably better on the 18's ??? Thoughts appreciated
i thought how nice and soft the ride was compared to my Clio, i guess it depends what you are used too
On a cup the 18's may help a little but not massively and also depends on sidewall stiffness of the particular tyre. You can hide the lag by choosing a more aggressive throttle map in Sport mode but only if the car has the RS monitor. They are quick cars but mainly because of the chassis, not the engine.
Came from a mk3 Clio and yes, Megane feels more compliant and less crashy but it's still a stiff car suspension wise. It'll be cheaper to run than an M3 and more usable day to day unless you get a DCT e92 maybe but those are more money.
I think the laggy response is one reason some people go with the RS monitor option, so they can tweak the throttle response, or a remap might sharpen it up? and you have not said what seats you sat in, after driving my Clio for 4 years, the position seemed a bit weird, but i am sure i will get used to it
when the seat is in the lowest position the front of the seat does tend to stick up, it is height adjustable so maybe adjust it up a touch
Cheers guys The seats were standard cloth. I did have the seat in the lowest position. I was planning a remap, so not too worried about the throttle, I remember having to get use to a impreza turbo a few years back. Just a case of thinking a head more
