Baby seats

  1. Any parents on here put a forward facing baby seat in their Mk3 Megane? I'll need to get one for my daughter who is nearly 1yr old now. The Megane will not be our sole family transport - nursery pick-ups/short runs around town will be the extent of baby transport duties!

I'm not looking to spend a fortune. Iso-fix would be nice but not essential. The seat will generally stay in the car full time, but it would be nice not to faff with belts.

  2. I'm interested in this also, I have an iso fix base I used up until now (10months old), but need to change the seat soon.

  3. I think we're the only ones interested Rich! I'll update you to what I get.

  4. OK, so i'm at EXACTLY the same point as both of you. Spaffed £300 out on an isofix Maxi Cosy rear facing child seat as soon as 'PJ' was born and now she's 1 in 2 weeks and my missus is back to work guess who's doing the nursery runs?! Granted they are about 3 miles each way so not far at all. So heres the options we had:

Buy another isofix base and seat at £300 for my Megane (less money for go faster parts so doubtful)
Buy a forward facing child seat as shes now getting bigger and have one in each car.
Buy a compatable child seat with our isofix base and swap the base round every time one of us takes her out. About £200!

So heres what we did. After having Maxi Cosy we we're pretty happy with it we wanted to have the same brand again if possible. We took a trip to Halfords and had a look at the Maxi Cosy Priori (Link here) http://www.halfords.com/kids-zone/c...ats/maxi-cosi-priori-sps-child-car-seat-stone. Not an isofix but fit is really solid and because its forward facing SO SO much easier to put her in when in the Megane as its 3 door and also to take out and put into others. Bit of a bargain at £90 notes.

Don't just think for going isofix because its 'better'. If its only short journeys I don't think its worth the extra money. Having one of both I can honestly say that the non isofix is far more 'stable' and less 'rattly' and at nearly £200 cheaper is great value for money. Hope this helps

  5. The Britax is a good choice. It can be used on 3 and 2 point lap belts. It also has reclining feature.

  6. Britax Duo Plus.
Got one permanently in my Cup-S.
    Perfect for ocassional use.

  7. Don't think I would ever select a child seat based on value and suitability for my needs, but each to their own........

But, that said, I'm sure it will be fine and will do the job, they wouldn't be allowed to sell it otherwise.

  8. You assume my needs do not include a sufficient level of safety for my child I take it?

They're all tested to the same standards. If paying for a nicer brand helps you sleep at night fill your boots.

  9. You assumed that I assumed.

  10. OK......

  11. Recaro Monza Nova IS for 9 months to 12 years (forward facing). Seatfix is the isofix base although will also strap in.

Recaro 360 Zero1 is the top dog for rear facing until four. We call it the voice share.

    Have both.
