Hi I'm looking for a bit of advice from the guru's Im thinking of buying a Magane 250 and am not sure which car to buy or options to pick out in the for sale ads I want the best handling car with LSD and leather Recaro's and heated Can I get a None Cup spe'd up LSD and seats and does it mean if the car has Brembo's it a cup chassis. I have a budget of 10K
Hello and welcome. You really need a cup car for best handling. These have the LSD. The Recaro's aren't necessary as many on here say the standard seats are still really sportive, but they do really make the interior, if that's important to you. The brakes are all the same but I think on the early mk3's the colour (as standard) is a indicator of cup chassis or not. Red I think is cup chassis but I'm sure others will confirm either way. Post up the ads you are looking at here and we can give opinions for you.
yeah red caliper is usually reserved for the Cup, there's also normally a 'cup' logo on the pillar between the door and back window Personally i went for the sport, i know i will miss that extra handling from the LSB but i didn't want the hard ride. I think quite a few cups were bought with what on here is called a 'full fat' meaning it has most /all the extra's normally on the Sport version (Auto wipes / lights / Climate control etc). Not sure if keyless entry / start was standard on all though.
They're both great cars. I'd be happy with the Sport for road use only. The softer suspension goes some way towards clawing back some of the lost traction caused by the lack of a LSD.
Alright chaps, thanks for the help so far I'm going to go for a cup, but will test drive both to confirm What is the best way to check if it's a cup? Most don't seem to have the cup badge between the door and the pilar, but have red calipers. I'm probably going to buy private and want to be able to tell by visual inspection BTW, these cars seem to get brilliant reviews and I spent a few hours on YouTube hoooovering up every review I can find. I currently have a E46 M3 which I need to sell, but it's going to happen BTW, nickfrog I've seen your name before, is from piston heads, m3 Cutters or s2000 forum?
Theres two main models, the sport with silver calipers, plain disks, has softer suspension, silver wheels and no lsd, it has all the mod cons, climate control, leather interior etc. Then theres the cup, red calipers, grooved disks, stiffer suspension, black wheels and lsd, and will have a more basic interior, cloth seats, no climate etc. But you can get whats called "cup pack" which is an option for the sport, so you will get the red calipers, grooved disks, stiffer suspension, black wheels and lsd, but also have the better interior.
Thanks Ryan, that clears it up for me. So sport with a cup pack has everything I want, what's the down sides with a sport with cup pack, weight. Is that all?
Youre basically after the same spec as me with budget. If its leather recaros your after i think youll struggle. I decided to look to buy the best car but not make the seats a deciding factor. Im lucky im off to see oneeith black leather but its over my 10k budget.
looks like we are all after the same thing , I will be 100% looking for the leather heated seats or the cs sportster seats. Did not like the cloth seats on the one i drove. Think i would feel disapointed after a while if i did not buy one with the optional extras
Looks like the a Cup with leather Recaro might hold its value well in light of this apparently rampant demand! It's still only a Renault though!
