R26 Open cone air filter/induction kit for R26 - recommendations?

  1. I thought there would be a long running thread on induction kits for the R26, but I can't seem to find one! What do people recommend for the R26?

I like the look of the Pipercross foam filters that I've seen on a few cars, would anyone have a link to that product? Thanks!

  2. Itg induction kit, may as well do it right! It relocates the filter down by the headlight so it gets more cold air. Allegedly dyno proven to gain 12-15bhp

  3. I have the ktec induction kit..and after the ecu `learned` the increased air flow..the car definatly has more urge up top.
It also makes a lot of fruity noises if you like that sort of thing.

  4. Thanks both. I think the open cone filters can be had for around £40-50, just wondering which ones people go for. Don't really fancy shelling out £200-300 when I'm pretty sure a £50 open cone will do the same thing.

  5. I don't see how a fancy induction kit with a bit of shielding is any better than a cone stuck on the end of the stock hose, is any better on a turbo car?! :grimacing:

This so called colder air has to go through a hot turbo and an intercooler before it gets to the engine....which, as the name suggests, cools it anyway?

  6. not about temps,as you say..intercooler deals with that..its supposed to be able getting more air in.
As I said..when I put the cone on,the low response of the engine dropped right off..but in time the ECU adapted its parameters to suit.
I was just as sceptical, thats why I didn't put the ktec one on for 5 years.
Bought the kit,as it comes with a machined mounting cage..just less messing around.

Is it worth the money ktec charge?..what tuning part ever is,always over priced??
But I have to say it defiantly has more urge at higher revs.
I hear the ITG kit is good to,but I don't like the very low position of the cone.

  7. Greetings! I have the ktec induction kit fitted, and to be honest, it does what it says on the tin! Definitely pulls harder, and as someone else said....It sounds good too! I would recommend! It takes an hour to fit, which is very easy to do and does give significant gains.

Post some pics up of your setups guys please

  9. I'm all honesty the cone isn't that low on the itg, I was a bit concerned about the threat of hydro lock etc but it's essentially top of the wheel/ just below headlight height.

From memory it's not really much lower than the standard airbox intake, a few cm maybe it's just further forward

  10. I made my own using the MTC turbo hose and various silicone straights & bends, then got the 80mm ITG cone.
Very easy to do although i did have to cut away some of the ECU & battery bracket. I got the idea from Matt E so credit goes to him.

  11. thats just engine bay porn....

  12. wont that long air intake tube cause a delay in response time?

  13. BUMP to continue this topic . . .

  14. my ktec induction kit connects direct to the inlet, eliminating all that pipework down to the filter.
obviously it doesnt get the`cold air`,but as mentioned..the intercooler does that work.

will get a pic up tmrow.

  15. it probally does..my mates 320hp 2.3 integra turbo just has a K&N cone filter...does the job.

  16. I've got a similar set-up to the pic above with the filter down near the headlight/ front wheel.

I never noticed a delay in response time after fitting it, although i have had it a while, so its a bit hazy trying to remember.
Thinking about it as long as there's no restrictions, you shouldn't get any slower response time??

  17. probally not..dont know the science.
the ktec kit just eliminates well over a meter of pipework.
who really cares,as long as they do the job.
My car has a lot more urge now up top, right to the redline than before.
power would tail off before it was fitted.
