  2. hi and welcome, you might get more for you bucks but it won't be as fun to drive than this

  3. has it got the cup chassis upgrade? if so then very much worth it. great car just got one myself. put it into context... it's 270hp fwd missile. handles.great and is built solid. people have the stigma of its a renault... crap build electrics blah blah blah. but it's really quite the opposite. I've worked on so many cars over the years new and old and to be honest... after taking my new nav apart on Saturday to fit the decat.. I came safely say that is very well bolted.together. the suspension set it is over engineered and solid as is the chassis and the engine. it's just a bloody good car. and great fun to drive. the question you have to ask yourself is.. do you want a car you will enjoy or a car that Facebook approves lol you'll end up in a fiesta if that's the case as it was the most popular car sold last year. lol

  4. It's the drive that makes all the difference with these. Think that is at Lookers Chester, saw it when mine was in for service. If they tell you it has everything on it then just double check as I think it has the Standard exhaust rather than the Akrapovic one and it doesn't have the RS monitor. But will be one hell of a drive. I've had my trophy for almost two years now and still puts a smile on my face when I drive it.

  5. No matter what I think about what you paid for it ... as long as you're happy with it

  6. You should get an Audi instead. Innit.

  7. Better in what sense?
    Bling factor? Yes, definitely.
    Environmental friendliness? Definitely.
Out and out straight line pace? Yes.

However for £19k, I wouldn't know of that many options with that low age/mileage and that does the sports hatch/daily driver/track toy combination that good.

    What has been suggested?

  8. There are none but most people don't know what a track day is nor what it requires in a car.

  9. Thx for the reply means a lot to me as it will take me 5 years to pay it back .
All it is I got a image of having a gtir for 19 years it was a show and been in all the mags so when I put the pick up..
They sort of liked it but not love it.
Like you gus know. . They don't understand what it's got cassis ect.
As for add ons it's got
    r-link
    Leather seats
19 wheels not the standard ones sorry not sure of the name. .
Got the sport's mode but I'm sure this is standard. .
    The paint...

  10. They just think I can get more car for 19 k
    But I have looked. ..
    It's a hell of a car for 19 k
It's like new 3 years warranty left also

  11. It just depends what you want from a car. To impress your mates/pose around, some sort of S-Line Black pack Audi (with high mileage and smallest TDI) might've been the better car. Likewise that a 320d might be better if you do 20k miles per year. I don't care what people think I drive. The Megane is by far the cheapest car (even including mods) that I have and often rises an eyebrow as to why I drive a Renault.

  12. When driving back from the Ring the UK customs at the Tunnel asked me the usual questions (I look very Mediterranean) - I replied I had been on a track day. He laughed and said "what, in that ?". I wished him a very good day.

  13. Don't get me wrong I'm not knocking the car in any way what so ever. ..
    Very underestimate car

  14. Firstly, step away from the facebook...

I joke obviously, but the kind of people who are telling you this know nothing about drivers cars, for that is what the Megane is.

It's akin to somebody telling you about your health who isn't a doctor or medical professional. If they're car snobs to that degree, personally I wouldn't talk to them about cars (or much else to be honest). The one trouble with the Megane is, what to replace it with (eventually). Once you've reached the zenith, where do you go?

This is what Steve Cropley had to say about it. I know who I'd rather believe.

  15. To be blunt, f**k what other people think lol! With what mine cost me I could have bought many different cars but I love driving it. Simple as that. And also looking at it:wink:

I still get the it's French rubbish blah blah, but then you take these people for a blast on a good road and all of a sudden they're shitting themselves and impressed at the same time :tearsofjoy::smile:

  16. Lads I really really appreciate all your feelings about the car and you are right.
Peaple so called friends can be hurtful.
Just wanted to share my feelings ....
Facebook can be a bad place. ...

  17. No worries :grinning:

Facebook is a truly terrible contrivance; no good ever comes of time spent on there.

  19. I bought my car in December 2015, and a lot of people thought I was mad going from a 116i to a Meg 250 Cup, especially seeing my Meg is a year older than my 116i and cost me £13k.

But when they saw my car and got in it and drove it, I haven't heard a bad word since. It is a brilliant car. You'll love it, who cares what other people think.

It's your car, it's your money.

  20. It looks lovely mate!

Just read you your other thread - would like to see some pics of your gtir please! I used to have one, er, three actually!
Got caught in my first one and thought a ban was inevitable so sold it. Kept licence, bought a slow daily then ended up with another gtir for track stuff, it'd been bumped very slightly but was in great condition otherwise. Came with cage, underbody panelling and had probably been used as a recce car for rallies. Was fun until my friend wrote it off :worried:

My third one was built by a mate, forged engine, quaiffe box... only about 330 bhp but the same torque.

Can't imagine 19 years with one car - respect!

    You'll love the megane.

Did you get one with the cup chassis?

Any more info about your gtir?

  21. Always wanted a Gti-r in my early 20's but never got one! Loved the concept of a small 4wd hatchback with a turbo lump.
Now they're rare/expensive as hell for a good one, and probably not THAT fast in this day and age. But still cool!

Gutted your mate wrote yours off, I'd be raging lol

  22. This car does not have akrapovic or R-Link Monitor on it, if you are not in a hurry hang about abit. i have been watching the price fall over the last few months. with the new model getting closer you will start to see more deals coming in. Or even better odd ball ones with the ohlins, akrapovic, monitor pack, recaro's. remember akrapovic is a 2k extra, monitor pack cannot be fitted after market. This is not a cup edition or a trophy, looks more like a normal 275 with colour bits on it. have you tried http://www.renaultretail.co.uk they normally have some cracking deals, purchased two cars from them at huge discounts. (normally pre-registered ones that they just want away. example they have a 16 plate cup-s with 100 miles going for 18,300

  23. By running him over?!:tearsofjoy:

  24. Couldn't agree more with this! Nobody can take the Megane for a back road blast and not be impressed! It's really that good!
You'll be the one driving / experiencing the car, so pick the one you love the most!
And as for Facebook.... move the mouse to the right corner and click the little X and all your troubles will flow away!!!
