Hi, This topic might have been done to death but will ask anyway. I did try search for it but it came back with an error. I have a r26 with a fair few mods around 285 bhp on a stage 2, milltek, sports cat, 630's, cooler, short shift mod, air box mod, white, lux, fsh etc, and looking on ebay the prices seem to be about the same as when I got it but 250 prices have come down a lot. The r26 prices on ebay seem crazy, some one has a white r26 for £8.5k, cant see it selling for that but anyway not many whites and none white with lux, so could get a decent price for it. I much prefer the look of the 250 but have spent a fair bit on the r26 since I have had it so it seems a shame to sell it but a newer 250 with less miles does tempt me. Apart from the looks are they much nicer / better? Every time I see a mk3 I do like how they look but then I love my r26.
I sold my white lux 45k R26 2 years ago for £7.5k... There's not a lot in it especially with mods added to the mk2. The interior is a lot nicer though. Only you can really answer the question, but I'd say if you're not having issues with the 26 then keep it. You've said you love the car, so there's your answer possibly? On the other hand, if it's at an age where it's starting costing a lot, I'd say sell while the prices are good and go for the 250. Mine cost me 29p/mile in maintenance so it had to go.
I love my megane 3 rs cup 250. You need recaro and cup chassis though. I've had a ktr remap and filter and took it to 278 at the wheels not flywheel!!! So easy performance and on a track it performs really well even with rd tyres. BUY one
The one for 8.5k on eBay has sold, wonder what he got for it, I've got a white R26, purchased for a weekend car but I've done about 100 miles since owning it for 3 months so contemplating selling up
Company car is the main reason, trip to see the parents is a 80 mile round trip on the motorway so use the company car, all I use it for is popping out now and again on a night. The weather has been terrible, I'll probably drive it more in the summer. In a way I want to keep the mileage down and keep it in mint condition, not sure if eventually they'll start to rise in price
I honestly think they might, to a point. I sold my 45k miles GW LUX two years ago for £7.5k and they appear to be going for the same or more now. If so, I think white and yellow R26's will command the best money, as a substitute to the R26R, which will achieve cult status, but be out of reach for most.
Nice problem to have. There's always something that attracted me in the 26 but I don't know what. A sort of old school nimbleness where the 250 is a bit more grown up. If I had a car that has stopped depreciating and I enjoy it, I'd probably keep it !!
I would prob prefer a 250, the wife always says the r26 is a bit of a boy racer car!! Not that that bother me It just seems a good time to sell before the bottom end drops out of the r26 market. Would hate to think what I've spent on the 26 could prob have got a 250 with that money but anyway. It's a pretty sorted r26 as they go won't need anything doing on it for a long time and nothing is going wrong with it - well apart from a window wire gremlin that should be sorted next week. I have emailed that seller as he says he wants more r26 and if he got 8.5k for that one mine should be worth about the same which seems bonkers to me
