Hopefully somebody can help! Im in the (frustrating) process of replacing the lower hub swivel bearing. Ive removed the lower ball joint and track rod ends etc, along with the 24mm upper and lower bolts. I also wound the 24mm bolts in a few turns and gave both a whack with a lump hammer. However... i cant get the hub off. What am i missing?! Would appreciate any help thanks. Sent from my SM-J500F using Tapatalk
You have removed the whole hub, haven't you ???? you have to knock the top and bottom in about 5mm or so then should pull out, doesn't matter if you knock them right out.
Everything is still attached to the car, so no... youll have to bear with me though as ive not attempted this before! Ive knocked them as far as poss but the driveshaft is still installed... Sent from my SM-J500F using Tapatalk
You have to remove the hub unit complete, you can't get in to replace the lower cup as the drive shaft is in the way. By looking at your pic just undo the bolt that clamps the unit to the suspension unit and then it slides off and off the drive shaft. Don't foget the ABS sensor
So is there no way of removing the 'hub carrier' as shown on the above pic, without removing the entire hub assembly? Thanks for your help. Sent from my SM-J500F using Tapatalk
It'll either slide of nicely or be an arse to get it off the shock absorber! The bolt has to come completely out though, because there is a locator thing on the shock. Also I found it easier to do the 24mm bolts up FT with it on the ground, and a bar through the hub to stop it rotating.
Ok cheers for that. I'll go out and have a look after work tomorrow, if its not raining.. Sent from my SM-J500F using Tapatalk
this might make things look a bit better http://www.catcar.info/renault/?lan...pbWc9PXx8Z3JwX2lkPT0zMXx8c3ViR3JwX2lkPT0zMUI=
Ah yes thanks a lot for that. Will report back as soon as progress is made (or not!) Sent from my SM-J500F using Tapatalk
There is a dowel in the lower part of item number 1, that needs to be flush with the inside when putting it back together
Thanks for that... struggling to get time at the mo, maybe a job for saturday. Sent from my SM-J500F using Tapatalk
Got the nut off but the bolt wont come out!! Tried winding it out and hitting it with a lump hammer. Frustrating!! Sent from my SM-J500F using Tapatalk
Ps. The driveshaft popped out of the gearbox in the midst of the struggle! I shoved it back but is there any technique to making sure its properly located? Sent from my SM-J500F using Tapatalk
Not really, as long as there isn't any oil leaking out it will be in fully. Don't forget to top the oil up in the gearbox
