I'm thinking of going to visit the Nurburgring later this year and I'm wanting to get a general idea of the total costs inc travel, accommodation, fuel and track fees ect.. and also best time to go, I'm thinking around September/October. Any advice would be appreciated.
I have booked on to "Circuit days" track day at the ring on the 16th October and also Spa on the 2nd and 3rd of October, i have already booked accommodation as the choice was getting thin, euro tunnel is about £60 each way, two nights in hotel i am paying £85, fuel for track i would work it out at 12-14 mpg so about a gallon a lap. Track day at the ring is £549, no bikes, vans, coaches etc, last time there i saw max 15 cars a lap
It all depends on where you stay, how long for and how many laps you do ultimately. Budget about £100 for crossings, 2-3 tanks of fuel to get you there and back depending where you live. You can camp if you want to do it cheaply, get a hotel,or share a guesthouse/apartment if you're going with other people etc Then you have TF laps on top of that and whatever fuel you use for them. Or do an organised track day as mentioned above
I normally spent £800 to £1000 all in on a 4 night stay, which includes Channel tunnel, staying in a local hotel/B&B which cost about 90euros PRPN for a twin/double room and fuel, depending how many TF laps you do. September/October is a good time to go but look out for the GreeN Hell weekend they have in October. Mid week is always a good time to go if you've never been either that before 10.00 or after 17.00 when things tend get get a bit quieter at weekends. I think the friendly warning about third party liability on TF is de rigueur. It doesn't stop me going but needs considering.
Last trip in my R26 I travelled over 1000 miles including laps, used 42 gallons of petrol, spent €300 (split between us) on accommodation for three nights at Linder Ferienpark, £130 return for Eurotunnel, and approx €150 on food and drink.
If you are going to the ring it's a great idea to do a track day at Spa too which is a great experience ! I spent about £1000 in total for my 6 day trip which included a night in Luxembourg and 5 nights in Spa. Track day at Spa and a days visit to the ring. Spa trackday €290 Accomadation Luxembourg €100 one night / spa B&B €260 Petrol £300 Food/drink £200ish. Ring laps €30 each Eurotunnel £210 with European road recovery
This will be our 6th year and I'm a mingebag accountant so I like to think I do my calcs before each trip quite well From Manchester/Stockport in an Ep3 Civic (pretty much same mpg as my meg on the motorways): Petrol to ring and back £250 Ferry/tunnel return £80/£150 (going from Hull to Rotterdam this year tho which is £200 but saves us fuel and a Belgian hotel stop over) Hotel for a week £500+ for a cheap one in Nurburg itself (CBA staying away from the ring as we like to drink and watch so need something walking distance to the track) Ring laps (4 at £100) - this year thats weekday only prices, weekend will cost double this year!! Ring lap fuel - another tank at £50 ADAC recovery for the full year £80 That's between 2 of us Food/beer/stuff £200-300 each Not sure if there's anything else I've missed, they're the main things though for a week/5days stay
