Is anyone on here running there 250 with a bluefin if so have they had any problems etc and does it make a big performance difference
the general opinion is to stay clear of them, those that have run them have found they've been running dangerously lean.
Yeah that's wot I heard I really want my car mapped but rs tuning is 14 hour round journey wot about fast chip Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Fast chip have a good rep in the Renault world. Not heard about so much on this forum though. Rstuning use fast chips box's for their remote remap. A lot of Aussie megane people seem to use fastchip and there very big in the Clio world. I had a fast chip map on my r26 and no complaints. Felt like a different car with the map on. There was a comparison between fast chip and rstunings Maps on the "other site" and they were very very similar, henk had slightly more mid range and Paul had slightly more top end but less mid range Sent from my HTC Desire EYE using Tapatalk
I might just order one from fast chip but no idea how to install it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It is really easy tbh. You will need a computer to connect it to though. But you can download the guides and help files etc from the fast chip website. But it is essentially :- Install software on PC/laptop. Connect the car to the box and laptop. Make a copy of your cal and ecu file. Upload new copy of cal file to ecu. (I didn't have a new ecu file only a cal.) 2 mins later all done Disconnect box etc Car is now remapped. Sent from my HTC Desire EYE using Tapatalk
Sounds easy but am sure somewhere along the line I would destroy my car Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Always sounds easy but then the on screen instruction say "this" will appear and then something different appears" and from then on you're f----d, frightening isn't it, ask me how I know.......
Before you buy fastchip, gather more information about them locking your ECU. I've heard stories that the ecu can't be overwritten/ read after their map.
I have the Bluefin on my 250 and it feels very smooth mapping, I also have one in my Q5 and likewise it feels as if it should've come like that as standard. I have Superchiped/Bluefin'ed countless cars now and never had a problem with any of them. I spoke with Superchips before I fitted the map and they said they currently have 450 x 250's etc physically running with the map therefore if there were widespread issues they would've surfaced, I mentioned the bad vibes regarding the cars running lean and their response was that if the probe was pushed further up the exhaust it would read more accurate. Don't anyone shoot the messanger, I'm just relaying what I was told. I'm very happy with my Bluefin map, as I am on my other car and previous cars, I've never had one problem or concern so would definitely recommend fitting one as it's obviously easier to do so yourselves rather than having to travel to a garage.
Iv done 15 trackdays in my RS and not one problem, feels really torquey and smooth. Used 1 on my old RS mk1 focus and same outcome
I Bluefin'd my Mondeo Titanium X Sport and had probs' with loading it, different things were showing on the B/fin module screen, car wouldn't start, OMG !, had to make a number of long ph' calls to B/fin with them saying try/do this to the B/fin upload on my laptop, EVENTUALLY it was all sorted and all was fine, but for best part of a day I was crapping myself thinking the OE Ford map was knackered ! all's well that ends well and it's been on the car 2 years with no probs' since.
I have a bluefin for sale if you wanted for a 250 will need unlocking I believe can do it for £50 posted
My 250 is running a Bluefin map. Its the "stage 2 map" they offer as I'm running a forge intercooler, Scorpion cat-back and sports cat. I didn't actually apply it myself as the car came like it. The map seeps smooth, I do get issues with "Check Injection and anti-pollution". When I took it to Renault to diagnose they suggested it was a mapping parameter that was throwing a fault, but it causes no real issues and only pops up if I'm driving it particularly hard. A £5 OBD reader clears it. The cold limiter is very particular on it (not that I should be hitting it), but on the odd occasion where I miss judge it just sounds like its missing in every cylinder until the throttle is taken completely off before carrying on again (whilst behaving this time until its properly warm). Again, no really an issue because it doesn't do it if the car is warmed up properly. As for power, I'm not sure. I'm putting it on the rollers at the end of this month to find out once and for all. I'm putting my money around the 310 figure. Economy isn't brilliant but that is to be expected, 19.5mpg around town, if I am really really good I can get 30 on the motorway over 200 miles (Tesco) or 33 with Shell. Not knowing what it is like standard it is hard to describe how it has affected it, the power does come in hard, especially after 5500rpm. Its fun and doesn't seem like there are any blaring flat spots! My concerns are reading that it can run lean (if anything I'd have thought its rich though), and what the power curve is like. I've read that it is torque that kills these engines as opposed to bhp. I had a 330ftlb diesel Astra before this and it feels its got more torque than that!
That's very poor mpg out it, I can get 40-45 out mine on a motorway run with hybrid etc and it averages 25-30 on day to day driving
I've never heard of the megs getting that high before! I just assumes 30 was a general consumption, parkers list an average of 34mpg and I figured the manufactures tend to be optimistic anyway. I've never been overly impressed with it, although I didn't buy the car expecting a high MPG. The computer is surprisingly accurate too when I work it out via miles and actual consumption. Perhaps that's a bad trait of the bluefin then, or I have a hole in my tank.
Mine is very good on fuel on a run considering how enriched my calibration is its currently sitting at 36mpg and that's from a mix of fast road, commuting and town driving on the A82/A84 Moldovan, Hybrid turbo.
The ebay listing was called "ELM327 Mini V2.1 OBD2 OBD Bluetooth Auto Car Scanner Diagnostic Tool for Android". Apparently they're hit and miss. Seems to work on mine, but it only shows base line OBD codes, not Renault specific ones. I use it with the paid version of Torque on Android.
