Finally I can start a thread now I finally have my car. Bought from a friend for a very reasonable amount! Spec is white cup, rs monitor, drl's and cloth recaros and covered 59k, Car isn't the prettiest body is very tidy but the wheels are in desperate need of a refurb and all the brake calipers are shocking. A few other bits I've noticed is a loose front bumper and missing fixing out of the passenger wheel arch liner. Also due a cambelt service and pretty sure it needs the bottom ball joints doing. Plans are to tidy it up and make it a nice clean car that my wife will use everyday, a cooler and a map will be more than enough power wise. I have a set of h&r springs ready to fit and my kind wife has bought me a CGR exhaust for my birthday so can not wait for that to come. I'm after a steering wheel retrim and good set of tyres that will be good for a few track days as well as road driving. Not sure on what pads to run yet but I'm swaying towards the rc5+ but with non cup disks to try and keep noice down. Anyway here's some pics and I'll upload more as and when I do some work on it.
Looks nice that you will enjoy it Miss mine at times when I need a bit of power to pull out at junctions or a quick overtake
Right update time, after I got the car I used it for 3 days covered 250 miles and then took it off the road for a mini refresh. This turned into a much bigger job than I first thought once my ocd set in. First job I removed the head lights and painted the inserts black and imo one of the best cheapest mods you can do to a 250. Next I recieved my carbon diamond badges that I bought from another member on here I'm made up with these even though they were a pug to fit! After these my good wife bought me a cgr full exhaust system for my birthday and to say I'm made up and blown away with the quality of this system would be a understatement the sound is unreal from it. I then turned my attention to the rear calipers as due to the car spending 5 years of its life in Aberdeen the weather and elements were not too kind to it. I removed the rear calipers and carriers and stripped them right back and give them a fresh lick of paint. In removing them I snapped both rear brake lines due to corrosion so I've had to order 2 new ones and new bleed nipples to go with them. Next was the big job of the front hubs! I have replaced both upper and lower ball joints on each side along with new drop links, anti rotation links, hel brake lines, passenger side wishbone, and new calipers. This has been an absolute nightmare with bolts rounding off etc etc but I've finally got them done and fitted along with some h&r springs the car is finally back on 4 wheels after spending 4 months on axel stands. This brings me onto the best mod so far my new wheels and tyres, I've gone for yoko ad08 tyres and Rays motorsport 57 g07wt wheels in 18x8 et50 there absolutely mega and I'm in love with the look of them. I've still got a full service to do including cambelt and aux belt I've just fitted a new thermostat and I've got a front drivers side brake line to fix after that snapped aswell!
I never weighed them but I'm led to believe they are 9kg, there a full on motorsport wheel that was originally made for wtcc and have a knurled rim like r35 gtr wheels have!
Yeah just remove the clips on the outer edge and warm the cover up to remove then the chrome insert is just held in with a few t10 headed screws. I used some sika flex to re seal them
How long did it take? What did you use to heat them up? To break old seal? Do you need to remove bumper to take headlights out? Or are they easy to remove?
Can't you not just get these headlights? I've got the same (I think) and were fitted when I bought the car:
i also got already tinted headlights, but i think that his are even more darker if you paint it, i will try on mine
I used the wife's hair dryer and a big flat head screw driver, head lights are two bolts and a sliding pin and then they pull out with no need for the bumper to be removed.
Yes you can buy them headlights but the only ones I could find at the time were non genuine and cost about 12 times what it cost me to do them myself. I want a set of xenon headlights in the future.
