Hi. I know what I should do but I could do with advice. My car has been perfect BUT since new in May this year, there has been a suspension creak on compression over some bumps, even at very low speed. Seems to be coming from the front right. Actually the noise is on rebound I think, after the compression. The dealers had the car back twice and have now heard the noise themselves. The last time they did the engine software update (not related!) but couldn't find the root cause of the creak. They asked me to bring it back if it gets worse. They explained that the only way is to strip it. My issue is that is doesn't seem to affect handling and that the dealers have looked after me really well. I also paid very little for the car, basically I got 30% off. They also tell me that Renault do not pay for warranty work so it's coming out of their margin. Does anyone know what this could be ? And if I should insist on them putting it right ?
Cheers Chris. No I haven't as I thought the WD40 might dissolve grease that should be there? Unless it's creaking because there's no grease in the first place lol.
Well it could be anything from the arm to the shock to a ball joint impossible to know until you take it all apart and grease it all up ?
These are the sorts of things that do my head in with cars... it's like the moment I've heard a noise/clunk/creak that noise will be all I can hear until it's gone lol! Difficult to advise, are you certain it's from the suspension? So it's always been there? Sometimes the noise can be something as simple as a door/seat/bonnet. If it's not bothering you, you could just leave it until it gets worse then hopefully it'll be more obvious what it is. When I got mine it'd only done 20k and was like new but there was something I could hear from the susp. It obviously didn't put me off buying and my gut feeling was that it was very simple fix like drop links. After paying for a few hours of labour the garage tracked the noise down to.... A drop link and some sort of rotation link thing. Showing their true genius, they only replaced the faulty parts so now you know what I'm hearing? - the same fing noise!!!
Great post !! Made me chuckle - no not sure it's suspension and I didn't lead them as assume makes an ass of you and me. BUT, they heard the noise, including the sales manager who lives in my town and picked the car up for me. They have acknowledged the noise which is a good start... It sounds like a dry bushing, but surely they're all new !!!
My Espace has had this sort of noise for years now, it's a work vehicle so not bothered with it, but it doesn't do it when it's wet or damp, normally returns after a couple of dry days. Just spray some water in and around the suspension joints that will or should narrow down what it is.
Check anti roll bar bushes. Easy to rule out, unbolt the link rods, tie up the anti roll bar and drive it over the same bump. If there's no noise you know it's the bush. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
