Hi, my o/s driveshaft bearing and/or seal has started throwing grease all over the place, now I've bought a new driveshaft just to be on the safe side and because I didnt know the sizes of the bearing or seal. I just wanted to know if anyone's had this problem before?
I replaced it about 2 years ago been fine ever since, not sure on the o ring size though as I have a box full of different sizes.
Just taken my driveshaft out and cleaned up my bearing and bolted it back up, is the clamp for the bearing meant to be like this? I've got the rubber seal in behind the bearing and the bolts are tight but it has a gap and the bearing sits proud? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Anyone?? Do you need to use the rubber seal that sits in the mount for the bearing as mine doesn't seem to sit flush with the seal in place? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hi Paul It's better if you can leave the seal in as it will keep the grease in and keep the dirt, grit etc, even if you can keep the dirt out it won't last long with no grease, if you have any thread lock fluid, put some on the bolts and then just nip them up.
Thanks for the reply Ian, Is there meant to be a gap between the two parts of the mount? Is the bearing meant to be proud of the mount? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think it is, well it is on mine, i just tightened it up the shaft still turns easy so must be alright
