Debadging

  1. Now I think the MEGANE badge looks hideous, but do I remove the Renaultsport badge as well????????

    I’ve got a black 250 Cup.

Part of me thinks keep it as uncluttered as possible therefore remove both. But then seeing another black MK3 on here that kept the RS badge that also looked great.

I want to keep the Cup badges on the B-pillars therefore keeping the RS badge wouldn’t look out of place along with the Cup badges.

    Decisions…..

  2. looks aside, one by product of removing badges thai didnt expect was:

Badges in place: loads of boy racers couldn't resist the urge to indulge in street racing me

Badges all off: no one at all is interested in any form of competition on public highway.

  3. Ive left all mine on but I think Renault badge left standard, megane lettering removed and leaving just the R.S part of the renaultsport badge would look best

  4. These cup badges (on UK cars) would be the first thing I'd remove ...

  5. I removed both Megane and RS sport badges as I think it looks much cleaner.
Wrapped the badge in black against the glacier white and looks perfect.
Each to their own but the Megane lettering has to go!

  6. I’m definitely going to remove the MEGANE badge, will see how it looks then. I quite like the CUP badges on the B pillars and think possibly leaving the RS Renaultsport badge would even it up, especially with the chrome tailpipe trim.

I usually totally de-badge my cars (other than the manufacturer badge) therefore if I was to remove the RS Renaultsport badge I’d probably end up removing the CUP badges, which as I said I quite like.

Then black Diamonds and tailpipe trim……….

  7. I removed the Megane badge.

    Kept the RS boot badge.

Have gloss black covers for the Renault badges, front and back.

Never had any cup badges, also removed all the stickers from the back window too

  8. I’ve already removed the window stickers, one was the original dealer’s sticker and it was huge!!.

MEGANE is definitely coming off, may then black-tape over the RS badge and see what it looks like.

If I do go down the Renault badges route then would probably think of carbon rather than gloss-black as the car is already black with black wheels.

Will post some pictures up at the weekend when I get a chance to do the MEGANE badge.

  9. I think carbon looks very much 1990's or Halfrauds but that's personal taste.

  10. .......It’s just like so last season.

I was born in the 1970’s so that doesn’t seem that long along and therefore not so out of date!

  11. LOL. I was born in 69 ! But I had CF dashboard inlays in my 1999 Audi S4! Before anyone had Audis lol.

  12. I was born in 75, so in 1999 unable yet to drive I had CF handlebars and seat-post on my mountain-bike!

  13. ….what am I talking about – by 1995 I WAS driving!!!!, admittedly it was my recently past grandad’s Nova (Betty), but by 96 when I was 21 you got a free year’s insurance if you bought a Saxo VTS!!!!!!!!

(Wrote it off after 6 months……!!)

  14. Bloody hell. Who was making cf MTB parts then ? USE ? Thomson ? Kore ? Or the Syncros/Raceface Canadian connection ?

  15. Seems I was living up to my nickname and was 10 year’s out!! (I lost a good 10 years in my 20’s!!) – was thinking of 1989 when I would’ve been circa 15. I was ‘tuning’ bikes even then though. I seem to remember most frames being Reynolds steel with the odd rare sexy aluminium frame and the ultra-rare ultra-expensive Titanium frames coming out, lots of cool aluminium bits from like you say Syncros, USE, Ringle, Cooks Bros etc. Perhaps another 5 years later is when I seem to remember the CF bits coming out.

  16. I had a Sunn Ti mtb frame in 1999, made by Morati somewhere in Eastern Europe. The suspension forks had cf legs, but not much travel!

  19. Wow, that was pretty special back in 99!

I think in 99 I was riding a Klein (can’t remember the model) with a ‘special’ alloy of some frame, was super-light. One of only a few bikes I’ve bought as-is because I normally assemble them up myself

    .......We’re digressing.

Thanks for the photos, both look great, as mentioned will definitely take the MEGANE badge off then will decide on the RS badge.

  20. By product of de badging is that the back ends easier to polish/clean. Do it.

  21. I think the carbon fibre trim in a Porsche GT3RS looks chav. So what can you do to not be chav?
