  1. Hi all. I was out earlier having a spirited drive in my RS265. I noticed that it felt rather flat at about 3000rpm, but when the revs did rise to 5000rpm it felt like it was hitting the limiter. The engine was spluttering and popping ( Just to add, I was in sport mode) until the revs made their way round to 6000rpm. Anyone any ideas what this might be?
    Thanks

  2. This honestly sounds similar to what I had before I replaced the thermostat and spark plugs, few of the guys on here have also had the same problem! That would be the two things I'd replace first [emoji4][emoji1362]

  3. Thanks for the reply. Do you know the rough cost to do that?

  4. Could be the cold limiter, which is caused by a faulty thermostat as JLodge said, causing the ecu to think the engine is colder than it is.

Where is your temp needle sitting? Also do you have the RLink/RSmonitor in your car? It will show your coolant temp.

  5. No, I've got the nav in my car. The temperature gauge is sitting fairly normal I think, it's pointing straight up (sorry that's not very technical). I will take a closer look next time I take it out.

  6. Well the temp gauge seems to be normal. Does anyone know the sort of costs involved in getting this fixed?

  7. I got the thermostat for around £35 from Renault Parts Direct and the same for the spark plugs if I remember, only cost me £100 all in fitted [emoji4]but if your thermostat is smack in the middle it should be ok? Mine was always just below middle and never read above 80 degrees. Maybe replace spark plugs first and give that a go?
