250 Front tyres seems to be scrubbing when pulling away on near full lock

  1. It's kinda hard to explain, but when pulling out of my drive applying near full lock, the front tyres feel like they are slipping, i.e. one of the tyres aren't pointing in the same direction causing it to slip. It's a strange feeling and noise which is quite hard to explain. It's been like this for a while but never really took any notice of it.

Anyone had this before? Or it is normal?

  2. Totally normal. Both my 2010 250 and 2014 200t Clio do it.

  3. Yeah it's normal.

I thought it was the locking diff but maybe not if a Clio does it too.

The low grip this time of year can be overcome by whatever is resisting the wheel turning, so they lock and skip a little.

  4. It's to do with the castor angles etc totally normal on these. I thought the same when I picked mine up!

  5. Exactly, caster angle + sporty tyres + low temperatures.

My old Volvo did it after fitting Pilot Super Sports, my MINI (on AD08R's) only does it when it's really cold. Mégane does it all the time...

  6. I've had this too ... I think ... does it sound like the tire scrubbing but only on the Micheling Pilot Super Sports (19 inch Steev wheels) and not with the winter tires and 18 inch wheels. I've always thought it had something to do with fitting spacers on the front but couldn't find any evidence of scrubbing the wheel arches.

I'm glad more people had / have it

  7. Sounds like Ackerman effect but not sure of spelling!

  9. Hard sidewall tyres seem to exaggerate this effect quite a lot. Its all good !

Mine is even worse now on the ASTs with extra camber and castor. I actually thought something was gonna fall off haha

Yeah it freaked me out at first, almost as if the car feels like it's going to go straight on haha
