Going to buy Vredestein Ultrac Satins - am I daft?

  1. Going to by a set of 4 of these:

    Am I being silly?

Having eaten my front pilot 3's in 8k miles, and now just having a side wall ripped out one of the newish rears I'm loathed to pay £130 each when the reviews on the Vredesteins look just as good.

I don't do huge miles, don't care about fuel economy, but grip in wet and dry needs to be enough to keep me happy on the spirited drive home from work (I have a track car so doesn't need to be to those levels).

Any thoughts or experiences on these?

  2. Satins? great name, like a dyslexic devil worshipper :smilingimp:

  3. I've recently fitted a full set of the below Vredestein Ultrac Vorti tyres to my Megane 225 (tyre size 225/40/18 however). I think they're more performance oriented compared to the Satin tyre. I've done about 1000 miles on mine and I've not had any scary moments in the wet or dry. They're definitely as good as the Bridgestone Adrenalin RE002 tyres I had fitted before them. I ordered my set through the below website and they arrived pretty quickly (good price too compared to Camskill, Oponeo & Black Circles assuming you're after mail order!).

  4. Yokohama 105 are hardly more expensive, maybe that's an option.

  5. I Thought the vorti was the old model and the satin was the new?
The vorti seems hard to get, but they did get excellent reviews before.

The Yokohama 105 - anyone used them?

  6. I've gone from pilot 3 to Yokohama 105, the initial turn in feels a little bit sharper, I've not done huge miles but I'm happy with them so far.

  7. I've had the vredstein sessanta which was the predecessor to the vortis and am now on the yoki 105's.
In the dry not much between them but in the wet the 105's have more grip and feel better.
The 105's feel better than the continental sp5's I had before also.
I'm not convinced the satins are are designed as a performance tyre (may be wrong haven't looked into it) but whenever the technical blurb goes on about reduced rolling friction and fuel efficiency I always have it in my mind that performance wasn't their key objective!

  8. I've just purchased a full set of the vorti' as they are promoted as their high performance tyre, whereas the stains are a sports tourer tyre.

I shall report back on how they stack up against the Michlin PS3's they're replacing.

The above link is the best price I found for them btw. But £15 delivery on top.

  10. Vorti's all day long! I've used them for year on the road and done a few wet track days in them too!
