250 Headlight washer on non-xenon megane

  1. I understand that the non-xenon megane's also have headlamp washers fitted. Can anyone confirm this? Do they actually function? and if so is there a headlamp washer switch next the the headlamp beam height adjustment control next to the steering wheel?

  2. I've got it on mine (German model) and it's annoying. Every time I want to sprak the window I press too long and the headlight washes do their thing. In other words the whole bonnet is covered in anti-freeze washer ...

  3. If you use your windscreen washer when your lights are on the headlight washers should operate as well.

  4. So your megane is the non-xenon version? do you have a switch to operate the headlamp washer next to the steering column? also, does the washer jet go up and down one side at a time? if so which side goes up first?

  5. The headlight washers on non-xenon models are often mistaken for not being operational as the headlights must be on while the stalk is pulled to wash the front window. Most people use the front window washer during daylight with no headlights on, so never see the headlight washers.

  6. mine work perfectly fine with headlights on and not when headlights off as they should...this is how they should work

  7. I have the non xenon version and it has headlight washers , there is no separate button to operate, it functions with the windscreen washers whilst headlights are on . also note that once your washer bottle drops below a certain level the headlight no longer get washed to conserve what is left for windscreen only.

  8. Just wondering, How does it know when washer fluid level drops below it? The pump doesn't have any sensor nor is there a separate sensor to detect fluid level. I understand that the actual windscreen washer pump is located right at the bottom and the headlight washer pump is at the top. So you wont know if washer level has dropped below headlight washer level until windscreen washer level drops?

Do your headlight washers wash one side of at a time? if so in which order?

    Thanks.

  9. went out and checked just now and lo and behold no headlight washers. topped the water up and hey presto. no idea how it can tell but it does. left stalk comes out just before the right but only marginally as if it might be first on the relay

  10. I thought that the pump on the top might have a tube that only went so far into the bottle to ascertain level but when the washers don't function the stem does not even pop out so something is telling it not to. then thought maybe the stem pops out due to water pressure build up inside it before spraying but if so how would they retract again.but did notice that when mine spray they spray left right left right which suggests there has to be 2 separate pumps operating them or some sort of gate valve flipping backwards and forwards which seems unlikely. who would have thought headlight washers could throw up so much questions.

  11. There are 2x separate pumps, one works the headlight wash, the other front/rear screen wash.
The headlight pump is mounted further up the reservoir than the screen pump. Hence why one continues to operate until the reservoir is empty
