Dont know what happened. First the picture wouldn't work then tried to edit it and it made another post. Got there in the end though.
I have a temp sensor next to my filter and it doesn't peak over 10c in this weather (while rolling) and I don't have a cold air feed. But after some heat soak leaving it parked for ~30mins its like 33c!! It quickly drops though when you move.
Take the battery out and ram the air in. Don't put a pipe in as you'll get turbulent air in and cause a power loss.
Never heard of anyone actually loosing power by adding a cold air feed? You might get turbulent air in the cold air pipe itself but when it exits the end its still colder than the warm air in the engine bay.Which is better for combustion. How turbulent do you think it gets getting sucked up and forced through the turbo? It will smooth out going through the smooth pipes going into the engine.
Stick it on a rolling road before and after! There were tests on this with the old forum in 2007 when we had them new. One guy had a cold air feed and induction kit, it made more power when he took it all out and did a run with no IC! The ones which had a power gain were those with a panel filter.
The question was getting a cold air feed to the filter not which set up works best induction kit or modified air box.
Ok, stick a cold air feed on, it'll be a sick mod and give cold intake temps and bring 10hp to the party.
Oh behave, on one thread you're saying you'll not fit a Chinese cooler as it's not proven to drop temps but on this one you want to support a cold air intake without proof it does anything.
Its only got to do one thing and thats direct air through to the air filter which even you must understand, it does. Air goes in one end and comes out the other. Simple. Air entering the front of the car is colder than air in the engine bay. Are you following this So air exiting the pipe will also be colder. How can it be anything different. If you can prove anything but cold air comes out of it and in your words " cause a power loss" I'm all ears.
Sorry master technician, I listen to you but you speak bullshit. I've sat with technical guys and discussed this and they have spent a lot of time developing the best they can. So as much as your theory makes sense to you, it's not true. Speak to Matt at TDF for a decent explanation as it's his knowledge I'm quoting. For this thread though, I'll leave you to it x
My theory of air getting forced through a ducting pipe at one end will come out the other end is false is it? Wow, i wonder where it all goes then. Please ask Matt i would love to know.
You refuse to listen. Air will go in the pipe, air will come out. It may be colder (or not, per your other rant, let's see the figures and evidence please), but it's what is referred to as turbulent. It spins around and is not as good as the clean air. That's not made up by assumption, it's proven on the track and rolling road. Some people want to mod the air box or change to and induction kit for the noise, but you're likely to get a small drop in performance rather than any gain. Again proven on rolling road days. I really am done with this thread this time.
I just want to add my meg made 240 bhp with a ktec induction and 3" exhaust PRE map. So that must count for something than just noise .
Who cares if its turbulent or not when it leaves the pipe, all it has to do is be colder than the air that would of been there without the air feed. Where is this imaginary "clean air" you speak of coming from? Your obsessed with evidence and figures. Get a length of hose and blow through it,easy.
The gaping hole called the grill. Look at the air flow in the standard engine bay. There are even flaps behind the standard bumper to direct the air to the intake. You can recreate the speed of air forced in to a pipe with your mouth? Must be all that bullshit. You're asking for facts and figures on the Intercooler thread, but happy to ignore then here.
What type of road out of interest? My standard 225 cup made 229 on a dyno dynamics road. Another guy had a standard one with a panel only and made 239.
Hahahahaha you dont have a clue what your talking about. Run along and type your crap somewhere else your boring me now.
Please stop being a nob. You don't need to 'believe' my evidence, just accept there may be truth in it. If you can't just stay ignorant.
Stay ignorant of what? Your obvious lack of knowledge about airflow. In your own words then Einstein What is the difference between clean and turbulent air and how does it affect the performance, ability of the filter?
U both have difference opinions on this so why not agree to disagree and that be an end to this debate
