Megane Follows A McLaren on a Ring Warm Up Lap....HoHo!

Discussion in 'Track Days & Track Driving' started by R26Man, Oct 13, 2016.

  1. Here's footage from the on-board camera from a Megane 265 (track prepared and local fast car, thanks Michael) following a McLaren 12C on his warm up / sighting lap.

It's about an 8:24 lap in 7*C temperature..
    Enjoy..

    Safe driving..

  2. my mate whos a very quick driver, took me round the ring in my tuned R26.
After the first couple of corners we got behind a 12c,and stayed welded to his ass through the corners..he would disappear down the straights though!

After 3/4`s of the lap we tried to get past him.. just as a local in a Cooper S flew past on 3 wheels on the outside, when we were 3 abrest with the 12c.

When we pulled into the car park, the guy in the cooper S had his boot open with all manner of crap in the back, including a golf umbrella!..He gave us a cheeky smirk as we drove by.

Just shows local knowledge really helps at maximum attack.

The Ring is all about knowledge, Hence you see stuff that would be slow on any other track putting in incredible laps.

  4. It always depends on the driver and if he is interested in mixing it with an R26 or Mini and have the aggro of these slower cars trying to "out do" a clearly faster car......a McLaren will toast just about most things on the Ring, even though it's not designed for that type of track and better suited to a G.P style layout. I have first hand knowledge of a 12C doing a 7:26sec lap BTG and no R26 or Mini is going to come close to that.....

  5. Of course it would..who in there right mind think it couldn't??..the 12c has double the power+

But as Jamie said..the ring is all about knowledge..my mate has been there many times, and the guy in the mini had adenau plates on his car ,obviously the guy in the 12c didn't know the circuit,as his line was all over the shop.

No one was trying to `out do` anyone..he was simply to slow due to his lack of track knowledge, and should have moved over to let us pass.It was simply a case of`your not passing me in that fkn roller skate`

Doesn't matter what you are driving,if you don't know the track. The ring punishes mistakes with no run off areas,as you know.
It was Just supposed to be a humerous story about the mini, thats all.
