Good deals on front pads?

  1. As title really, looking for some new front pads (265)
Can you guys help me shop for them! I'm looking for an upgrade over standard for pads that can cope with track and road use
And I always love a good deal

  2. Track and road use has to be a compromise. Are you more focused on track performance, or road liveability?

  3. Ferodo DS2500 maybe?

  4. I recommend PFC Z rated at around £100. I have done 5k miles including 4 track days (Spa, DN16, Bedford twice) and there were still 4mm left, which surprised me considering the number of laps and pace. Never had any fade but they need RBF600 for that. They're great on the road too and are homologated for that so no insurance concerns.
Edit : in fact I have just checked and there was still 6mm left.

  5. I'd say it's 80% road 20% track

  6. Nick, how do you find the dust?

Are they marked ECE R90 Nick? I couldn't find clear definition of this on the net or by looking at images on K-tec. The Ferodo DS seem to be and carry the markings demonstrating compliance with European legislation for brake parts as OEM equivalent replacement parts.

  8. Hiya Sam. I don't think it's any worse than oe pads, possibly less actually but difficult to tell as I only ran the OE pads for 300 miles. I always have my wheels well sealed so that might also help a bit.

  9. Good point ! I didn't check. Will do though. I understand that the DS2500 are not even trying to be road legal but that the DS Performance (old DS2000) are. Will update this post.

Yes sorry it is the DS Performance ones which seem to be ECE R90 marked, none of the other DS range. Its a real quagmire as many have tended to assume all sorts of pads such as Pagid Blue etc. are road legal homologated but when I looked I could see no evidence of it, certainly the RS29 Yellow and RS4-4 Orange I have on my race car came in boxes stating their for track use only and carry no ECE R90 markings.

  11. No R90 markings either on the PFC Z box but I can't se the pads anymore of course...
I swear I had read they were. I'll ask my contact there actually...

On the pad it will be on the backing plate same as on OEM pads, should be able to see it on the rears as the backing plates are clearly visible.

  13. PFC don't do a Z rated for the rear calipers sadly...I use basic Brembos at £20 as disposable pads....
