My GT DCI Progress Thread

  1. Hi All, I thought I'd gather some photo's together and make up a progress thread of my MK2 GT DCI and hopefully get some opinions on how to progress it further!

First off, I bought the car in a little bit of a sorry state out of auction.. this is how it looked just after it had been delivered and I had cleaned it up a bit!

And with not too much work, it was back on 4 wheels and looking much better with a new bumper, wing and some fresh paint.

I then sold my Pug 207 GT I had at the time and got the megane back home, sent it in to have a full service, not knowing its history at the time (Later found the service books in the cubby hole in the floor!) I think I took the Megane badge off the tailgate almost immediately!

And then the fun began! car went through a bit of a overhaul with a set of coilovers, discs and pads all round, 20mm spacers all round, a lovely set of tecnomagnesio 201b's off a top meganesport member and that much needed R26R roof spoiler! And some various other little bits like caliper painting, wind deflectors, tinted fogs etc.

And some more recent pics, i think I lowered it a bit more, smoked side repeaters, sun strip and some stickers haha. Oh and a private plate!

Loads of other little bits to, all the stock audio has been ditched for a double din alpine and all the door speakers replaced. It's suffered with the usual megane problems of a blocked scuttle drain (found luckily before it flooded the footwells..) faulty window regulators, pain in the backside headlight bulb changes! which I have all sorted now!

Have a few ongoing bits being sorted at the moment, fk upper grills, exhaust on order from Ktec, lots of various bits of trim gone in to be hydrodipped. (B pillar trims, Badges and exhaust trim) and sourcing all the bits to diy fit cruise control and maybe a interior if I can source one!

All opinions welcome! Hopefully I can keep this thread updated as I fit more parts :tongueout:

    Cheers!

  2. Love the wheels

  3. Lovely car. Well done.

  4. very nice mate

  5. Very nice.

  6. Nice wheels  Car looks mega Will, such a big improvement!

  7. Looks smart, something different to normal. I like it. Get it remapped

  8. Thanks all  Cheers Gio! I hope you still have your R :tongueout:
So I've got on with a couple more bits.. Changed the rear dampers over to some bilstein items, as the ones that came with my coilover kit were crap to say the least.
Had a strut top mount fail completely on the way home from work which was great fun! On the lookout for some uprated ones if anyone knows of any?
Got hold of a R26 wheel and airbag mainly for the cruise buttons, it's a bit smaller than the GT wheel which was always a benefit to. So got cruise is fully fitted without any drama and works a treat!

I fancied a boost gauge, not sure really why but I liked the idea  So I went through the whole deal of routing cables etc. behind the dash and through the firewall and tapping a fitting into the boost pipe to find out I had a faulty sensor with the gauge.. So I'm waiting on a replacement sensor until then I have everything in place for when it does return

    Got a new badge!

And after 7 long weeks my exhaust finally arrived from Ktec. This is there "super sport" GT system for the petrol model. Safe to say it's a direct fit to the diesel model to, fitted it on my drive without to many issues. The tailpipes actually fit the cutouts in the bumper which I'm very happy about!

Oh and as in those pictures I got my exhaust trim back from the hydrodippers, picture doesn't do it much justice as it has a gold tint in it, really quite cool, certainly better than the flaking silver paint anyway :tongueout:

  9. I have a gt dci also mate and i like what your doing to yours

  10. Will having an exhaust for a petrol model not fail you come MoT time on emissions?

  11. The only part of the exhaust that petrol and dci share is the back box. Diesels don't have a central silencer. The middle section must be a one off .the petrol exhaust won't bolt up to the dpf.

I have a 225/r26 miltek back box and custom center section, dpf delete and decat

  12. I wonder if those side skirts fit the R26?

  13. It's fully mot friendly, diesels are tested on smoke, not emissions. I think up until February this year it was legal to have a full straight through system on a diesel, now any cats/dpf's that are fitted as standard must be present, but because the main cat on the GT is in the downpipe, which isn't visible from underneath because of the huge under tray i think you'd get away with getting shot of it (ruling against tester removing panels) GT doesn't have a dpf like the Rs 175 does.
The cat is still present on my car by the way lol, and the exhaust is the standard as it comes from Ktec  it is sleeved onto the 50mm section that is just after the cat.

No reason why the side skirts wouldn't fit a R26  Wouldn't have thought they would be cheap though, I needed the Ns skirt trim that sits on the front wing when the car was repaired, and that was £55 from Renault  You'd need both wing trims, both skirts and the plastic piece that it all mounts to, I have a print out of the skirt pieces somewhere

  14. Which coilover did you get fitted? have they got camber adjustment at the front?
i have a dci GT too with RS225 wheels and H&R spring and bilstein B8 all round, fun to car to drive for sure

  15. Hi tof, it's a vmaxx kit I have fitted, there is no camber adjustment no, overall I have been pretty impressed by them, apart from the rear dampers, they were no good at all lol.
Sounds good  any pictures anywhere?

  16. Nmp

    Nmp

    Those wheels are the dogs.

  17. I know this is ancient but just wanted to know of the Ktec exhaust sounded any good on the dci??

  18. Hya Mate,

Got the suspension changed to an R26 setup, at front, with thew bonus of the brembo caliper, made a massive difference to the setup and the esp does not come on very easily now when i push hard on a twisty.
no picture as yet but looks like an R26 sideway

  19. 2 years later. Ha.

  20. What does that suppose to mean, no best before date on a thread as far as i am concern, i was just updating the person concern on progress made with my car.

  21. Get a grip mate, he asked you for photo and you haven't had chance to take one in two years.

  22. no i just fitted the new r26 suspension recently so i havn't got a picture of them fitted that's all.
