Help - which way should the grooves go?

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by git-r, Sep 12, 2016.

  1. hoping someone can answer this quick as I have a track day tomorrow.

Just got new Renault discs and pads fitted but the grooves face different directions drivers side and passenger side!!

    Is this right?

    Thanks

  2. The grooves are meaningless.. it's the angle of the vents between the disc. They should go against the flow of rotation to scoop air. But come to think of it, they may not even be angled at all, which means it doesn't matter either way.

  3. Huge thanks!

I didn't think it'd make much difference but seems odd.. It's like I've been given two left side discs front and back..

so they're not designed for each side?

Doesn't matter, The oem discs are not handed.

  5. Thanks  guessing if I'd been looking at the original discs they would've been the same...

    Track day tomorrow....

New posh tyres and brakes yeeeehaaaaa!!!!

  6. Surprised you didn't go for plain as they work better by all accounts on meganers.

  7. I just ordered through Renault Wolverhampton and these were what I got. I'm pretty certain they've sent 2 sets of left side discs but will call them and see what they say.

They worked brilliantly on track yesterday
