    Hi guys (and girls now)

How much power and torque can i max get out of a standard 265 engine without forging it (safely) and secondly what are the figures like for a 225 engine but forged.

    Okay i'll rephrase the question.
Who has the most powerful 250/265, also who has the most power using the 225 block.

Not sure which way to go, forged 225 or re engine with a 250 or 265 ????????

  3. It would be easier and cheaper to sell the 225 and buy a 250 in all honesty.

Anything is possible with deep pockets but....

To get a 225 to 360 your talking good money, you looking at helix clutch, hybrid turbo, vibra technics mounts to handle the torque, fuel system - swirl pot, 044 pump, custom injector rail etc etc.
and that's after the engine is forged!

    To get a 250 to 360
You need a decat, hybrid, 630s, cooler and a map!

Cheers Boardy, never gone down an upgrade this style before, the furthest i have gone in the past was a remap

  5. Don't mention it mate, what kind of power are you aiming for?

was thinking around 330/340 with no torque restriction

  7. Well you would need to be forged obviously, the standard fuel system is flat out at around that power really, so to make it reliable I would consider a swirl pot etc you don't want to be running lean and melt your new forged engine!
The 250 turbo will be flat out too, so you would ideally be looking at a hybrid of some sort.
The R clutch is good for around 360lbft which is where you would be looking so boarder line again.
I believe you start bending standard engine mounts too around that torque.

This is where it starts getting expensive for that extra bit of power.

For what it's worth for the
extra 10hp and 50lbft or so.

I would change the rods for forged in yours and leave it at that.
250 turbo, decat and exhaust, 630s, intercooler, filter, R clutch and smf

I think you would see 320hp and 350lbft

For the extra to get that little bit more it's not worth it, the really wouldn't be anything in it on the road.

what would a standard 265 be capable of pushing out safely ????

As in internals or just a stock engine with map etc?

Mine was running 330bhp before I went hybrid.

  10. They will do 360hp and similar torque iirc

But you will obviously be needing all the supporting mods again, fuel system, clutch, turbo etc etc.

I'm not sure what the crack is with the gearbox is either because they are completely different.

You can't use the VVT either, the 225/230 doesn't have it so the ecu can't run it.

Cheers guys, i am trying to work out the best route to go, my engine has been mapped don't know what its running think about 260 ish, its now done 116k and is used to drive to and from a track and the day there, it sure going to let go at some point.

The reason is do i forge what i have or fit a 265 engine i have my eye on, the 265 would get a remap, decat etc that's about it, wouldn't go down the forge route with that., just trying to work out options

  13. I'm at 350/350 on a mk3 with hybrid

Max hybrid can do is around 370bhp

Max the internals can probably do is around 380lb/ft but ultimately, anything more than standard is going to reduce longevity of engine

Same for clutch. Would probably take 380lb/ft but will wear out

    Fuelling limit is 400ish

So 350 is achievable with hybrid, injectors, remap. Consider cooling also

400+ and you are looking at forging, Garrett turbo and manifold, fuelling, clutch

    I spent around 4.5k on 350

It's about double that to get to 400

On the one hand, a 430/400 Megane would be a weapon

On the other it's an expensive headache and all the money you plough into it you'll never see again... But that's probably the case for all fairly "fast" cars. If you buy a Porsche that hasn't got high mileage, it'll depreciate and lose about the same (aside from the GT3s at the moment, but they're 180k)
