I'm LOCKED OUT and the battery is dead?!?!

  1. Hey,

    I took my car off the road for a while (since I've been commuting further), so I locked it but left the bonnet open in case the battery went flat.

    However my next door neighbour saw it and shut the bonnet thinking I'd left it open accidentally?!

    Now the battery is dead and the key fob won't unlock the car, and I can't work out what to do with the key?!?!

    Any sugestions please it's an 06 225 Cup with keyless entry although the fob I have been using is only for normal entry (not keyless).

  2. There is a key inside the keyfob, on the passenger side, pick off the end piece of the handle, this will uncover the key hole where you'll be able to open the car

  3. Does it not have a small key on thr side of the key card for use on passenger door

  4. There's a small key inserted into the card which is exactly for this circumstances, you'll need to remove a small part on handle to insert the key and unlock door manually

    I've had this reponse back from my next door neightbour who is trying to open the car;

    "Hi rich done that already but the square bar does not fit in the lock."

    Square bar I'm assuming he means the key (inside the fob) and he has tried the correct passenger side lock.

    My only concern is I only have a copied key fob since the original malfunctioned, and this is, of all places, locked in the boot!?

  7. I was going to say that if you're not using the correct fob, then the emergency key probably won't fit.

    Are you in any breakdown service? If so, call them and they will open the boot or bonnet for you.
     
  8. You could try taking the passenger side front upper grill out and reaching in for the bonnet lock cable. Or going from underneath the car and flicking the bonnet catch over with a bar.
    I personally find that going in through the grill is easier.
    If you have updated boost pipes/ intercooler etc it may only be possible through the grill

  11. The easiest is to unscrew the bolts between the engine hood and hinge. You can see them easily from outside and once you untight the first one, you can reach the other one. This is how I got into the car when my cable broke.

  12. Just as I thought, unfortunately not a member of a breakdown service /-:

    Ok this sounds easy . . . although once the bonnet is unbolted will it just lift off or? Won't it still be attached at the front, by the catch? Is it easy to replace/line up after?

    I had this problem when i used an old battery that i thought was good, i removed the under tray, then used a jump pack red wire to connect to the big red wire on the alternator and the black wire anywhere on the engine, get someone to push the fob button once you have made a contact, i actually used a screw driver clamped in the jaws of the red wire and touched the alternator terminal after connecting the black.

    Amazing how many cars that works on. Did the same on my old Porsche 968 using a charger, jacked the car up and connect red line onto the main cable onto the starter motor as that sits really low on the engine (as it does on many cars). This is enough to get power to operate the doors. Funnily enough (or not), I am reading this thread as our Meg is completely dead and the emergency key is not opening the passenger door. Mrs NJH drove the car then left it for a month despite my reminders to use it every now and then.
