  3. Currently run a Sony unit MEX-N5000BT Single Din with a cover over other Gap, (may use this for additional switches and indicators) I can recommend the Sony Range as they come with all the useful toys - 4x55w RMS, BlueTooth, Front USB, Front Aux, Voice activation, Mic Phone App, Etc ... Would look at one of the 6000 range DAB+ units if looking now

Been thinking of going to a double DIN unit ( probably an Android unit so I could run Torque and other similar apps), but not sure of how much work is involved in making the Mk2 aperture fit a Double Unit, the central Bar would have to be removed and I normally don't like this sort of Irreversible "Mod"

I'm also thinking a lot more research is needed as to the actual quality of some of the available Android units. may even look at one of the older Single Din Flip-up units ( give Double Din Screen in Single Din Package)

I did a double din in mine and there's nothing to it, the Facia plate will need to be butchered as there's a length of plastic that'll need to be cut down and trimmed back, you'll also need a trim to go around the new stereo. It's pretty straight forward. There's plenty of them on eBay if you don't fancy cutting your own.

  6. Cool, i really like the idea of having a double din one that does navigation etc. Do they require a certain harness for the back or are meganes standard connections?

  9. Alpine IVE-W585BT, Alpine mid and tweeter in the rear, Hertz mid and tweeter in front, all powered by Kenwood amp.
    FLI sub with integrated amp.
The front door speakers are a bit of a squeeze but worthwhile. I initially fitted a Sony head unit that was designed to work with my Sony Z3 Android, it was absolute garbage. The Alpine is in a different league, albeit a lot more expensive.
Personally I think the gimmicks are not worth compromising the sound quality.

The Alpine actually integrates better than the Sony head unit with my phone.
It fully integrates with Sat Nav app on my phone, pauses the music and volume slightly, it streams Bluetooth audio from the phone, so I can listen to radio stations using the Tunein App.
Handy when you're out of that radio stations area.

I think the game may have moved on a bit since I had mine. For me I'd always look into pioneer first, I've never had a bad bit of kit from them whether it's car or home audio. Nothing wrong will Alpine either.

  11. Impressive wish i was technical so i could hook myself up with something like this. Looks decent

  13. I fitted it myself, it took me quite a few days. I did it on my driveway over Xmas. No garage!

  16. It really wasn't that difficult, basically take the interior out apart from the main dash, roof lining and front seats and carpet.
Some of the hard parts: pushing the wire through the bulkhead, getting the new speaker wire through the A post and into the door, refitting the door and side panels (aligning the poppers).
