Anyone got any tips on early signs of the clutch and flywheel going on an rs265? Mines only done 42,000 but im adament it needs a new one.. alot of clicking when changing gear especially at lower speads.. if not is there any known problems for knocking/clicking noises with these meganes? Not owned my long and its still covered on warranty so any help would be appreciated as the renault dealer i got it from are useless and say the cars absolutely fine.. Thanks.
The gearbox is quite loud, you can easily hear it at low speeds or with the windows down, you can hear it go in gear. That is normal, even a brand new one will do that. If your clutch need replacement you probably should see the revs rise when you put your foot down but the power comes somewhat late, ie clutch slipping You should also be able to test this by trying to leave from stand still in 2nd or 3rd gear with the parking brake on, if you stall fast it should be good
Another quick one in regards to general questions.. Car gets very hot and fan kicks in nearly 4 times a minute.. is this normal? Best brake upgrade known? Will all standard parts on a rs265 handle a stage 1 okay? Strong smell from the clutch when i give it some is this normal? Thanks
Have you got an rs monitor so you can see how hot the oil etc gets? The car should handle 300hp +/-450nm without problems stock, obviously more power means more wear. I don't think clutch smell is normal.. Probably means you are burning it? Are you letting it slip alot ie. Full throttle with the clutch not fully out?
Does the RS Monitor measure actual oil temperature, or is it a calculated (I.e. theoretical) oil temperature? If anyone has the pinout for the 265 engine ECU it would be interesting to see if the ECU has an oil temperature sensor input to confirm this.

Not standard part though after uprated at best price.. also i noticed on ebay some 61 plates 250s and 265s have the satnav upgrade in them.. my 62 plate 265cup hasnt? Just wondered if there was certain ones released with them and certain ones that arent.. Another thing.. car when not in sport mode is quick but by no means does it feel 265 bhp.. with sport mode on though it absolutely flys is that normal? Excuse all the questions not use to the car yet haha Thanks again.
Think that without the sport mode activated you only get the 250bhp mapping, and also a less aggressive throttle map. These together is probably why it feels so different.
Also, rear discs are quite worn found some nice black edition front ones at a decent price on the ktr site but cant find black rears though or decent rears anywhere for a decent price any good sites anybody knows about?
Problem after problem with mine so far.. now for some reason tonight when i booted it the clutch went straight to the floor.. wouldnt come up then i stopped accelersting and it popped up? Any advice
Possibly air in line, there's no return spring to pull pedal back up, simply relies on preassue, the clutch take off pipe from reservoir is not best design and not too difficult encourage air in especially if changing brake fluid. They're quite easy to bleed from underneath but would need ramp to access the clutch bleed 'tap' at engine front.
My 250 clutch dropped to the floor twice First time I pulled in and left the car for 5 mins had a fag then raised it with my foot And all ok Then I took it to get my ball joints done this year and he tried bleeding the clutch as he said it felt spongy but had difficulty doing it as the pedal kept dropping. He managed to return it to how it was and said my clutch is on its way out and will need doing soon On the way home on motorway just cruising I decided to pull in at services to get a mcds and I had no clutch pedal, managed to pull it and ate my mcds then I went on the back roads as i was pee'd off and i had let's say a really good play on the way home and it didn't do it again Don't own the car now though but said the clutch would be around £1200
For a little more than £1200 you can get an xtreme clutch from k tec! Either way appreciate the help.. hasnt done it since but am finding it hard to get use to the car... are the gearboxes known for being noisy? As i can literally hear it loudly as i put it in each gear..? Aside to that.. performance wise i want to go straight to a stage 2 on my rs in time.. what will i need to change to get the best results all over.. handling.. power.. all that? Thanks
