I think it's great what you've done to the car. And you've done it all neatly with attention to the aesthetics too, rather than hashing it together. I never understood these gypsies who think ruining a car is a good way of making a car into a track car. Bottom line is if you create something awesome and it's expensive and beyond the reach of some people you'll always be on the receiving end of criticism. Not sure if you remember bics 106 but that was uber controversial. I had a go in it through and it was an amazing machine. So aggressive and fun. I get criticism about the Rallye too but most people like it and appreciate what I've done. You've got the love mate keep it up[emoji1305][emoji41] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I love this car and its your Instagram account that's swayed me to buying a 250! CAE shifter is very high on my must mods list, hopefully get one sooner rather than later.
Gone the CAE shifter route this morning, I see you've left yours semi-exposed as I see they do for £85 a carbon surround now that makes the shifter look more finished where its situated was debating getting Djion (Auto-Select) to post one to my hotel when in France this weekend and see how it looks. Did you need to cut / trim any of the console for it to be housed in out of interest? I have a spare one anyway that can be butchered as always like to keep everything I change reversible back to standard.
Cae gave a template of what needs trimmed, they supply a plain alloy sheet with it as well if you don't want it fully exposed
Mine was done without cutting anywhere near as much as cae said but I didn't fit mine. I'm getting one of the carbon surrounds just not been too fussed as it looks epic either way
Looks like you could do a neater job of the carbon surround too than the supplied one. It's not really that accurate. Bet I could make a mint one I just need to get a cae! Done lots of this sort of thing on the Rallye and there is a knack to getting these templates right. I do fancy a cae but like you I dont want to have to hack my trophy to bits. Would try to get a spare surround first I think[emoji848] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Wheels now black, new calipers and braided lines and a few other little bits done on the car ready for Bedford track day tomorrow [/URL][/IMG]
I installed 4 Cae shifters, never had this problem, there is a bolt to adjust the shifter to set it perfect vertical, maybe this bolt is loose so it makes this strange movement but I'm not sure
Wheels look great. I'm sure you've told me already (sorry) but are they Godspeed discs? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Godspeed discs are gone now they didn't even last as long as the pads. I now have oem cup discs but boy they are noisy on track
I do feel the Megane brakes need better stopping power. Stopping it from 100 into a bend it feels like it could do with a bit more. Was thinking of those PF discs but they're bare dollar! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Forget fancy discs, Unless your chasing weight savings all they need is good pads and fluid. Looks great on the Black wheels Matt, Looking forward to seeing it on its new ones
I agree , oem discs are cheap and good , I tried a lot of pads and I like the Endless circuit compound cc43 the most and in the rear I use the Ferodo DS2500 pads with Castrol srf react brake fluid...
Done Bedford gt track day yesterday which was my 1st time there and wow what a great track, megane was absolutely insane yet again!! Wasn't passed once and only cars I managed to have a good player with was a cayman gt4 and an e46m3 with intrax 1k2 coilovers, dz03g tyres and ap brakes. The ferodo ds uno pads stopped like nothing else but the grooved discs are noisy as hell so plain ones next time. Go pro footage is poor as having to cable tie the mount as per rules mad it vibrate like hell and the battery died haha. Ad08rs where decent but not a patch on dz03g which I'll be getting next
If you have issues with the gopro and suction cup mounts maybe have a look at permanently installing a dash cam style camera with a 3M sticky mount like the Mobius Action Camera. Video quality is easily as good as the GoPro unless you need to go above 1080p and you can hardly see it when it's mounted just offset by the rear view mirror. Stick a 128G card in and it'll record all day easily.
Fantastic evening at Brandshatch last few megs and a lot of quick cars and had fantastic few laps with e92 m3 and cayman gt4
Dave's always seemed like a nice chap, always went on TDs with his TDO if I could work it that way over the others. Car's looking very purposeful now, I like that externally it still looks pretty original without falling into the trap some people do with sticking bits on or cutting bits off
Tried new cage mount but wasn't aware of an anti glare mode on gopro so here's a few laps with cayman gt4. Next track day will have better footage
Fantastic thread - enjoying it!! I think you were chasing a friend of mine at brands when it turned into a 3 wheeler - the blue calsonic stickered skyline r32? - he mentioned you were chasing him but came off... I will take great pleasure in telling him it was because of a mechanical failure not because you came off the track Did you get any lap times from brands? Cheers, Sam
Hahaha epic! That skyline was the only thing that day I couldn't catch lol I was doing low 56s that day
Nice. Was it running the same spec as now? He's a pretty serious driver... Or at least thinks he is low 56 is really good
Set the metering to "spot" (or adjust the lighting to +1 or + 1.5 manually). A couple of those anti fog inserts in the housing help against rattling sounds:
Yes mate basically same car except I'm on 17x9s now and ad08rs which aren't as great as the Dunlop direzza dz03g I had on the fronts lol. I was 2 secs faster with dz03g front and pilot super sport rears then I was with full set of ad08r. I managed to hold on to him for a few laps which I was pleased about haha
That's good going. He's not that familiar with brands but his car runs well over 500bhp and cup 2's. His full boost gives 620bhp but he "never" runs that... Or never admits to running that! I used a set of ad08r's and initially wasn't that impressed. Used them for a sprint when they were brand new and couldn't get much grip but last time on track found them much better. They're brilliant in the wet though compared to most track day tyres. You might find they get better - also worth playing about with the pressures. A friend runs the AD08r's and has found them to last ages and grip very well for the life of the tyre. He's logged similar corner g's to A048's - 1.2 g sustained which is excellent. I've also used the dunlops (years ago) and they're fantastic.... But so expensive I got my best times at brands on new federal rs-r's but I wouldn't recommend them as the grip tails off very quickly then the tyres go out of shape and cause horrible high speed vibration. We're going to Bedford for a track day on Saturday - long shot but would you want to go? It'll be my first track day in the Megane and the guy with the calsonic skyline is taking his new focus rs... I will do everything I can to beat him
I would love to go Bedford again I did it for the 1st time couple of weeks ago but not sure I'll be able to make it. Shame but maybe next time. Yes his skyline is amazing really is an epic car
