Hi Martin, Working on the house during the day and if the weather is right then the evenings are my time off and it's up to the Ring for a lap or two..... or six!! You and Dad should come on over it would be good to be able to welcome you here. The VLN Round 5 is this weekend and next weekend it's the WEC 6 hours....lot's of fun to be had. Cheers Paul
Find a decent R26 and hold onto it....with a few careful upgrades they are an excellent day/road and track car.
Best lap you've posted! Shame you don't have dials overlaying speeds, looked quick in places What are the tyres? Surprised not to see more of a jump in places... Or does camera just not pick up on it?
Yeah that looked a bloody rapid lap. No surprise tho, the meganes are so at home there. Got a bit hairy going into brunchen, ha
Thanks for the positive comments. I'm not very "techy" but have tried to get the dials from Harry's and overlay them without success. Not enough time in the day!! Now on Federal FZ-201 Medium compound with standard 18" wheels. The car jumps OK but I have found it's about technique and for example at Pflanzgarten 1 a touch of the brakes just before the car "jumps" pre-loads the suspension and the car goes over the jump "level" as the suspension unloads on the crest rather than "nose down" which gives more control (is a LOT safer) and better speed. Not so dramatic for the camera but these videos are for me to see my laps and look for improvement and then I post some of the more interesting one's just for the fun of sharing with you guys. Good work - I couldn't hear the drop in speed either! I know they have smoothed out the top of Flugplatz but it was PF1 and Sprunghugel I was expected something Very fun lap Do you do track days or purely TF?
Only TF which I find is enough if you are lucky to live nearby and have opportunity to drive frequently. You only get to miss out on the last straight. For example the VLN #5 is on today and the full VLN track (G.P Sprint and Nordschleife) is open from 18.00 to 19.30 today for TF after the race....guess where I'm gonna be?? P.S - The Megane boys from this video have just emailed are are coming from Belgium again on Monday....no pressure then!! Safe driving..
Tf is miles more fun than a track day there. We did one two years ago and it's much safer but not as exciting for that reason. It's the variety of cars I like seeing on the ring but I don't go chasing lap times.
Ha yep! We crashed on the track day but it's only a cheap Honda so limped it back and fixed it up over the next year. He was being closely followed by a meg 250 from rent for ring too - thank God he didn't hit that or anyone else!!
Sorry to hear that. I started on TF but I feel that I got away with it enough to switch to DN now ! What annoys me is the constant closures. I might still do the odd lap on a quiet evening TF though if I happen to be around !
It's not about crashing your car, that's irrelevant in terms of risk It's about what happens when you cause other cars to crash through dropped fluid, bits on track, being in the way on a blind crest etc Then you're PERSONALLY liable for all of those other cars (and any injuries) - and thus bankrupt
