Looking for a sorted R26

Discussion in 'Cars For Sale' started by iksander, Jun 27, 2016.

  1. Hello

I'm looking for an R26 40-70k which has had cambelt, water pump, window actuators and discs done recently. Would prefer reliability over track mods, although a stainless exhaust would be a bonus. Not fussed about cosmetics, but have a preference for decal delete non-yellow Q car styling

    Appreciate your recommendations.

    thanks

    Pete

  2. My recommendation would be: surf the net.

    AutoTrader, PH, EBay, Gumtree.

  3. Thanks, yes I am doing this but thought that i) many of the cars for sale on the net would be owned/known by people on this forum and ii) there might be owners on here considering selling here but who haven't advertised yet

  4. Sure, you might get the odd car on here, but whether it suits you would be a long shot.

Better off putting the graft in to find something you fancy on the www and then post a link on here for comment.

  5. They all look pretty sound. Someone may have more personal detailed info.

The last one has been up for a while and is not selling at that price. Worth knowing.

It's a buyers market, so take your time and if you are not in a rush see where you can get the best deal based on condition for the money. Private sellers asking dealer money will be vulnerable.

  7. When I bought my R26 from a meganesport.net long term member, years back,i joined the club with finding a unmolested car in mind.
Forum members tend to look after there cars better, hence being bothered to pay for membership.
You also can get s feel for how the car has been treated by going back through the persons posts.

Car was other end of the country.so I had to be sure.
Car didn't have a mark on it..never a problem in 6 years of ownership..its worth doing your homework.

  8. Agreed. I bought mine from here. Only reason I originally signed up. Original owner car. He hadn't advertised it anywhere else as wanted it to go to a forum member!

Bought lots of other cars via that marques respective forums. Equally bought cars via eBay, PH and in the early days Autotrader in the 90s.

Forum cars can give you a better idea of the cars history and the owner too. Dodgy owner, dodgy car.
