Hi, Just after some advise on the nice subject of brakes. I got some new rear discs and want to change the pads at the same time. I plan on just getting the standard Brembo ones that look around £50 ish (if anyone has a good place to get these cheap let me know). But is it worth getting some EBC yellow pads? I know they are not well regarded on the front but dont feel the backs warranty the money of some 2500 etc. Is there any point getting anything better than the standard pads for the rear? Currently have Ds 1.11's (for the odd track day just not got around to takeing them out since cadwell) up front but plan on changing back to the standards soon as the squeal is killing me
stick with standard on the rear mate, i always swapped the DS1.11 out after a track day, too noisy for me on the road.
DS2500 on the rear work well, better than standard, good for track days and you can leave them in for road use.

What happened with these? The Brembo any good? Like you I was thinking EBC, possibly red stuff. I've got standard TRW solid discs to go on. RS 175 Lux
I've gone from standard to DS2500 on the rear and I'm impressed at how much better it is already with just the rear discs and pads changed. Can't wait to replace the fronts as well.
Aren't the DS2500 for track use? I'd be concerned you wouldn't get anywhere the required pad temperature (500 deg C) for it to work properly?
No they are more for fast road, would do OK on track but not a dedicated track pad. They react better cold than the standard brembo pads by a long way and really improve after they do warm up.
DS2500's have a good bite. Much more durable and a nice notch up in performance over the cheap Brembo.
ds2500 rear and ds1.11 front is a time tested winning combination of powerful long lasting and relatively kind to disc combination anything more aggressive on rear and could upset the nice balance mid corner of the above combination
I've had DS2500's as front pads before and they are a nice little upgrade over standard and can handle track use with little squeal on the road. But at 4 times the price of standard pads - I don't think they're worth it on the rear IMO.
Good to have for the odd track day, as per the OP's original requirement. You can drop them out in 10 mins and whack in the cheapo ones for everyday use.
So, whilst not wanting to hijack the OP but whilst we're talking about it, I may as well stick to standard TRW to go with the TRW discs on the back of my 175 cup? Fronts are standard Brembo I believe. RS 175 Lux
Incorrect. They make discs, pads, joints and arms. I have a set of discs sat in the garage and the front end of the car has all new TRW joints (drop links, twist links, TREs). Also the rear caliper is a Lucas/TRW unit.
I know what TRW make as a company....... Are you interested in what's on your car and who supplies it or not?
Go on then! You tell me. Don't hold back if you know better! I'm not going to beg for it though. Whatever it is it will be in contradiction to what this forum and its users have previously said. That is all suspension and standard braking components (not front discs/pads which are Brembo) are Renault branded TRW sourced items. Dampers by KYB.
I didn't [emoji57] Think you got me mixed up with the OP or misread what I've written because I'm interested in the rears as I'm about to swap mine out. This thread is all about rear brakes. I was just asking given I've TRW discs going on the rear and standard Brembo parts on the front, with the absence of track days am I better just getting TRW pads?
