Jumpy still after plug and coil change??

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Ross, Jun 15, 2016.

  1. I have changed all plugs and coils and I still have a kidder and cylinder flashing engine light. What else can cause this??

  2. Injectors probably fucked

  3. Get it diagnosed properly pal
don't play parts darts and waste your money
    where you from?

  4. I'm in Essex. I have a OBD tester what should the readings be for injectors l?

  5. The obd readers generally throw up random cylinder misfire or low fuel misfire error codes. The exhaust seems to "cough" on idle also

  6. Normally multiple misfire or if specifically a cylinder misfire

  7. I have PO300 random/multiple cylinder misfire.
Would that mean injectors if I have replaced plugs and coils

  8. I would find someone local or a dealer and get it plugged into a CLIP rather than replacing parts that don't need to.

But my bet would be on injectors.

  9. Most likely - there is a place that you can post them off too and get them ultrasonic cleaned for around 60quid. I think there called injector tune. But that's a post and return service so you would be without your car for a couple of days. Or Google asnu (I think) injector cleaners to find s garage local to you that can do it within a day.

  10. Thanks Jones.
In the meantime is there anything I can put in the tank to clear them a bit?

  11. I tried Redex to no avail but for the sake of a fiver its upto you

  12. Abit far for you to come up north to us.
try someone local with clip or someone who specialises in Renaults

  13. It's a bit ghetto, but if you can get a 12v power supply (may work with a 9v (not 100% sure) battery or put some batteries in series) and some carb cleaner and some pipe that will fit the fuel supply part. You can open and close the injectors with the power supply (cycle it quickly so you don't burn out the coil) while spraying carb cleaner through them - not as good as a professional clean but pretty effective!

  14. Forgot to say you will have to remove the injectors from the car to do this and try to do it in a well ventilated area - bad flammable fumes and the potential for a spark off the battery (depending on how you cycle it on and off) are a bad mix!
But nothing as simple as just dropping an additive in the tank I'm afraid it never really works it's a snake oil! If my memory serves, redex is just coloured kerosene

  15. I no this is a really late response but I have changed my injectors and still have the jumpy feeling in the car at speed, I haven't had them done and don't believe it's the wheels that need balancing. I'm not thinking/worrying it's more mechanical? Engine at idle and accelerating is still smooth and fine
