Megane rs175 dci lux project.

Discussion in 'Megane Projects' started by OscarLomax, Apr 10, 2016.

  1. So I thought I'd finally get around to making a little diary about my megane and the mission to get it looking as good as I possibly can.

To be honest I bought my megane because it looks awesome, it's quick and I've got a bit of an obsession when it comes to Renault.. Made all the more by the fact that the Renault F1 team have just moved in a few miles from my house:smile:
Now I wasn't really looking to do a whole lot to my car when I bought it, but after finding out that it's a pretty rare megane i feel a bit of responsibility to do what I can to make sure this car remains as awesome as when it was made.

    What's been done so far:

•Colour coded the handles (silver had chipped)

•replaced the b-pillar plastic trim and the rear bumper grills for nice new black ones.

    • steering wheel re-trimmed by Royal steering wheels

•plaque made up with build number

    •dpf removed

    •stage 1 remap

As you can see I've only just started really, but to be honest I don't want to do too much as I want it to retain its original look and feel as much as possible.

Anywho I thought I'd start this thread for posterity and to keep anyone who's interested up to date on what I think is a very special little car.

  2. Anyone else looking to find their build number, Ellen Fenner at Renault customer services was really helpful.

  3. Paint the calipers red and fit some r26r headlights (black background) and that will look spot on. i miss my dci sometimes. Great cars

  4. Hopefully I'll have the calipers painted in the next couple of weeks. Didn't think of the headlights but I'll look into that.

Didn't know they were that rare! Should have got one of them instead of the R26

  8. I had no idea either when I bought it. That's why I feel a kinda duty to take extra special care of it.

  9. If anyone has any tips or ideas to improve it (sympathetically of course) then I'm all for it. Don't wanna do anything to crazy.

Milteks or some stainless or R26R exhaust. They last longer than the original and generally are better as long as they aren't too loud!

  11. Yeah I definitely need a new exhaust soonish, I'd have liked to find an exhaust with some black or carbon tips so you don't always see the soot.

  12. Hey, I've recently bought a DCI Lux too! However, its a 5-Door (got a bubba in tow), and I dont have the heated seats :worried:

Car is looking great! How are you finding it without the DPF? Have you thought about your next MOT?

    Following your thread closely!

    Bob

  13. Was great once I got the dpf removed and remapped!
And it went through the mot without any problems.

  14. Oh and Monday I got a terraclean done, I can't recommend it enough! The car drives like a new car and the throttle response is incredible! Definitely worth the £90.

Ha well it must have passed if they are legit! Either way good work!

  18. yea defo good work... bit worried about getting it removed, particularly as there is much talk of more stringent tests for diesel cars!
I suppose there is no other way of getting some more noise out the back with the DPF in place?

How easy was it to re-trim the B Pillar?

    Any other recent mods/additions?

  19. It was probably an easier choice for me as I needed a new dpf anyway, I wasn't gunna pay to replace something I didn't want.

Oh and the b-pillars are ridiculously easy.. It's just one screw.

  20. Finally got around to fitting me steering wheel from Royal steering wheels.
Absolutely love it! Jack from RSW is a master, can't recommend him enough. Gotta get him to retrim my gear knob next.

    Looks well that bud.

  22. Looks great and the steering wheel is excellent.

I'm not convinced on the teraclean, bit of a snake oil job that.

Good to see a fellow 175Lux. Bought mine in April 2015 off the original owner. Fired 18000 miles into it since then.

I'm guessing by the wheels and alloys you have the cup pack too?

In regards the build number. I did the same thing with Renault and used eksodus for the plaque.

What's weird though is when Renault got back to me they told me it was car 30 of 189? My car is an 08 too so I suspect late registered.

Gavin didn't you say you were told 189 or am I making this up?

I did get told 189 mate but others have been told more, I don't understand how they are getting numbers truth be told.

  24. I'm wondering if their numbers also refer to colours... Yours are both ultra blue, right?

  25. Yes but their are defiantly not 189 UB dci.

I think the RHD/LHD/total figures make sense.

My plaque says 30/189 anyway so it has to be true [emoji41]

    MBC and Gavin. like this.
  26. lol fair enough. But in this thread there's 293[emoji12]

  27. I've been told 293 in total, 100 LHD and 193 RHD. I have 83.

  28. That leave us with 4 magic ones. Be good to try and get a list of the 175's on here.

Blacks a lovely colour although I agree on the cleaning, I used own a 1.2 mkii Clio in black before this, after that I swore i'd never buy a black car again haha

  35. Nice cars folks. How much was the build number plaque? Thats a great idea for any RS owner!

  36. Got that idea from Gavin. http://www.eksodusproducts.co.uk/9.html think it was about £15 - £20 off the top of my head.

  37. Gotta get my discs and pads replaced. Anyone know what options I got for the 175? Tried looking online but can only really find the standard discs on nextdaybrakes.com
    Would've liked some black discs.

  38. Same options as the 225/R26.

I need to do my rear discs and have the TRW factory ones sat in my garage.

EBC USR ultimax come in black but that goes soon and you'll end up with just the grooves left black.

I had a good experience with those discs combined with Black Diamond Predator pads albeit on a heavy Turbocharged Saab.
