Went on a 5 day Scotland road trip in to the highlands all I can say is it's the best ever roads I've ever driven on and the scenery to match !
Please refrain from telling everyone, how good the roads are up here. We are trying to keep it a secret.
I've got relatives in the very north of Scotland (Thurso) and it's a 10 hour drive from mine, once you clear the motorways it's so pretty , last time i went was during a blizzard and only way i knew where the road was is because of the 2 rough lines from tyres.
It was completely empty ! The people who organised it are from Scotland and only me and two others came from down south. Next trip will be Spa and the Nurburgring but in the R26.
Live about 10 miles South of Thurso,on the moors,down single track roads, with passing places. I traveled to Spa in April, quite a journey. As you guys,who live this way know, to travel to Oulton/Anglesey/Cadwell etc.,is quite an undertaking. At 76 years old,its not becoming easier. You think living on the moors is peaceful?. The bloody Cuckoo starts at 3.45am,and stops around 10pm!!.
I did a trip all around the North in my MINI back in 2013, such a stunning landscape and lots of epic roads. Would love to do it again in a Mégane some day.
Wish we had roads like that here.. Denmark is small, so you can't go for more than a mile or two on b roads, before you will get to the next random village or whatever..
Hopefully I will have a Cup S next year and I will take that !or if not the R26. A couple of people took unAudi cars, Aston Martin DB9 and a Porsche 996 4S.
Just realised that you guys stopped for lunch at Ballachulish! The UR quattros were by far the nicest out the bunch.
There was a yellow RS Megane in the car park when we were there ! Had red wheels. I had a look around it.
Wouldn't of been that enjoyable, It was still on winters and running no boost as it had just had the Hybrid fitted but wasn't mapped til the Tuesday
Road trip looks amazing. I'm only a couple of hours away from some of those roads and even though I only work half the year I still can't find the time to drive them for pleasure, dunno how you guys manage to take 5 days out just to go driving! What sort of power you running now with the hybrid? Where'd you get it mapped, Ecotune again?
Great to see the road I have driven on Topgear tonight ! As you're driving you consentrate on the road more then the views ! Looked stunning and glad I have done it !
