Ramp was £2.5k from automech garage equipment near stoke, building is a proper industrial spec building, we have 3 of them, that ones the baby one, we run a couple of businesses from home, one of them does tyres - hence the ramp, works out well for me though!
Painted up my door handles on Sunday afternoon. Nowhere near as good as matt e but a lot better than before. Got to get around to sorting out the short shift mod one day.
I painted mine too, a full can later and they're sort of okay! I used Renault platinum silver which has a nice glitter and is a fairly good colour match!
Painted my door handles too, along with the bullets and mirror housings in Renault pearlescent black. Took longer than expected to get them OK - spraying outside under my car port when it's a bit chilly is not the best. Also fitted new rear bumper grills and b pillar trims, so nice and black now rather than faded grey. Just need some help now to fit my Clio side skirts. Already trimmed them but fitting is a two person job.
Fitted new hubs, wheel bearings, PF330mm brakes, Xp8 pads.....tried to do the rear but couldn't get the piston to wind back in without the proper tool. So that's a job for another day, along with HEL brake lines. Also, sent SO much dirty water down the plug after a 40min shower to get the ridiculous amount of scum off of me
Today I fitted a ktr induction kit an airtec 95mm intercooler and a ktr 70mm cat back exhaust and it feels like I have a new car!
Today I simply drove mine in torrential rain on Chinese semi-slicks (NS2R). Surprisingly uneventful but there wasn't that much standing water. The bigger issue were the brakes, what with cold PFC Z-rated. Not much happened on the first (cold) application...
Changed the oil and filters , and found that the dmf is making rattling noise. New dmf and clutch at some point. Well it is still on the factory clutch. Pedal feels ok and so dose the clutch. Strange......
Replaced all 4 mounts, new thermostat an fitted a modded airbox an K&N panel filter. I know everyone says it, but it really is like a new car! I can't believe how much sound has been unlocked now too! Very productive day
Eventually decided to fit my clio side skirts. Ground off the bit on the side that should take the clip that goes into the side of the car as the skirts sit much flusher to the bodywork. The screws (ditched the rivets) underneath hold it really tight so you don't need the side fixing. Quite pleased with them. Going to ditch my new OEM front mud flaps and have added some 3mm kaylan plastic mudflaps at the front and some in-fill pieces at the rear to stop crud going between the body and skirt.
Mud flaps are just an L-shape cut from a sheet of 4mm Kaylan plastic. I didn't mean to round the inner bottom edge so much and might actually cut some more so that it extends further inward - just needs a slot cut out of the mud flap as the arch liner bends under the car. As it stands it just slots behind the liner as far as it goes and is fixed with the arch liner fixing. Just needs a new screw/rivet etc. at the top. Stops the crud going down the side. Obviously you can make it longer/wider as desired. Piccy below - sorry about the orientation. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JJC-Rally...hash=item53fd7115af:m:mNwW5j-n0XG5OlAo2dyIIcw
That's great with spacers on the front I notice the road rash more. It should offer some good protection Many thanks
Yeah I know what you mean. I've got some road rash that I need to get painted some time. That's partly why I screwed the skirts on so I can easily remove them at painting time.
Replaced my windscreen washer motor as it died. Good news was that it only cost £7 delivered and only took ten minutes to fit as I don't have an engine under tray fitted.
Finally got around to fitting my Philips X-treme Vision headlight bulbs and Silver Vision indicator bulbs. Just need to have a drive when it's dark to see what they're like.
Got my new Clio steering wheel fitted. First thoughts much chunkier and nicer to grip than standard item
Drove it 800 miles with a boot full of kit and the rear loaded with wife and baby boy whilst the front had me and the dog. Not an ideal tool for the journey but we made the 3dr work and the car was faultless. Even a 2hr park up on the M6 whilst someone got airlifted to hospital didn't dampen my appreciation for the old girl! RS 175 Lux
I'm ok with squeaky brakes having been running RC5+ for what seems like ages, (actually been in there 2 1/2 years, don't do many miles) but they'd got really annoying recently so decided to 'service' my front brakes and give them a big clean. Turned out I think the passenger side had been binding ever so slightly as it was noticeably more dusty and when knocking the top pin out a metric f tone of dust fell out of the caliper All the pistons seemed to move freely enough though. Then this m$%^fu%^er that took a load of brake cleaner,a 2lb lump and about 5 or so minutes of firm encouragement to separate itself from the caliper, old one on the right and a replacement MrPinks pin on the left I'm hoping the MrPinks pins are less prone to seizing into the caliper like the oem ones as every time I've done them it's been a complete pain due to the pins.
Clio steering wheel attached will be refurbing later in the year due to slight peeling at the bottom of the wheel. Fabia splitter picture attached R26.r rear spoiler Sorry about how dirty it is but due to the great British weather no opportunity to give a good clean!
took out old roof linning as it needed replacing. ..and fitted very good condition replacement from breaker's yard in Plymouth for only a tenner ...couldn't go wrong with that...and it is looking spot on now...another job done off my list
