Somethings not right

  1. Hay guys and gals..
My 225 is dragging me all over the road under both hard acceleration and/or hard breaking (normal driving is fine), She had her mot yesterday and came back with 1 adv (slight play in o/s ball joint) is this the reason I'd asked the garage to have a look before hard but they say everything looks fine, anyone any ideas?? Much appreciated

  2. Which ball joint? The lower one I guess?
Bit yes if there is play in it,it would certainly make it move about on the road.

Does it make any knocking noises over uneven surfaces?

It could also be the swivel bearings have play but you'd hope the garage would know the difference lol

  3. It doesn't say on the mot cert dude but there's no knocking at all she just feels very jelly like

  5. It probably is your lower ball joint then as they advised.

I believe they can't be replaced separately, and it's going to be a new arm from Renault.

Don't make the mistake of getting a "normal" model one, as they're different

Ball joints can be replaced separately. There's a thread listing the TRW ball joint part number.

  8. I'll have a look for it cheers tim

  11. Can definitely be changed separately. Had mine on an advisory as well and having exactly the same issues, handling was all over the place. Cost me about £25 for the pair.

  14. Ah, I was wondering if your steering column UJ is the type that has the rubber donut towards the top, or if it is the solid type as fitted to the later models. Mine had the rubber donut one and I swapped out for the solid type and it's made the steering feel so much better and more positive.
