Christian's RS250 Cup Clubsport Track Car Project

Hi everyone,

Thought I would start a project thread so I can keep track of progress etc.
Some of you may know me from my previous car on social media, MK5 Golf GTi Track Car. 360bhp & 375lb-ft, Wavetrac LSD, Forge 6 Pots, KW Clubsports, BTCC Body...





Sold it this week and bought a Megane RS250 Cup the next day. I've been craving one since my last Ring trip.
So the car:
White Megane RS250 Cup
67K
Black Xenons
Black roof
Everything else was standard...

Friday night when i picked it up:


Next day I added a shortened and lightly smoked plate to the front, and a plain rear plate, cant stand standard dealer plates.


That evening I came across some Recaro Pole Positions 'Furious'' which are just XL Pole positions. As the car came with standard seats and I hate Recaro CS', these were a must.


Then Sunday the car went to Midland CustomWorx for a full protection detail, Front and rear Renault badges in Black, Exhaust surround in black, and mount the Recaro's in on the standard Renault rails with some modifications:











And the recaro's mounted on the standard renault bases and sliders and binned the rear seats. I will be carpeting the gap in the floor.





So i've owned the car for two days, and i'm really really impressed already, even on the ditchfinders its got on the front.
I've ordered some 235/40/18 Federal RS-R's all round, 3" Scorpion Decat pipe, and some servicing bits.
I'm not going for the full on racer that the Golf was, more of a clubsport spec...Will keep everyone updated!

Ha, you could say that. But pole positions don't come up that often second hand so I jumped at them.
Where did you get your new splitter from bud?

 

Hahaha, they're snug, but so much comfier and supportive than the standards.

Decat, filter, cooler, map. Dont think it needs anymore tbh

 

I haven't really thought about it yet mate to be honest. I'm going on track early next month and just going to destroy the discs and pads it has on now, no idea what they are. Just going to stick some RC6 pads, decent fluid and braided lines and then see what's what.

 

Updates again, haven't even had the car a week yet
Got my Scopion 3" decat downpipe delivered. Fitted it the same day and did a mid box delete, can't get over the noise it's hilarious.



Also whilst the car was in the air we noticed it was already on H&R Lowering springs which is an added bonus and saved me a job

Hi mate. I couldn't recommend the decat and mid box chop more. It's not too loud, for me anyways. Pops, bangs and flames all day long and doesn't sound to harsh, just barks.
I'll be running it on the standard map for a while. I presume it'll throw the EML on but doesn't bother me.

 

Haha I know. I won't be going as extreme as that tbh. It was far too out of hand lol. This'll be a quick set up track car tbh. Just want to be able to abuse it all the time we not too much hassle. Which the golf was.

Seriously loving my first week of Renault Sport ownership!

 

It's completely different mate. Power delivery, chassis etc. I didn't think this would be as capable as it is out the box. The Golf had literally every chassis mod available, because the MK5 chassis needs it, floppy as standard. This feels as capable now its on decent tyres. Its clearly not as quick in a straight line but i knew that would be the case. Going to sort a cooler and a map soon. Cant wait to get on track.

 

I know mate, literally can't stop driving it.

 

Long over due updating the blog!
Bought some servicing bits, oils filters plugs etc as it definitely needed one. Drives so much better now.



I tried a pipercross cone filter on the car and it sounded absolutely horrific so decided to take the airbox apart and discovered it had a KTR panel filter in it already, result. Cleaned it up and put it back in.



Decided to fit a rhino lip after seeing Bowen's (I think everyone has now!) looks great for £11 imo.



Then took a trip to vivid vinyl for a large sun strip. Mainly because the seats sit so low that the sun visors make little to no difference to blocking the sun... Not ideal on track. I think it matches the factory black roof well.





Then took a trip to Bedford Autodrome GT circuit, which luckily only cost me £3 for a full day! Don't ask ha!!
Unfortunately it rained all day however it was probably the best track and conditions to learn about the car. Even in the wet the car gave me so much confidence. Had a few 'moments' but all in learning about the car. Really rated the federal RS-R's in the wet, managed to even get some temperature in them with a massive amount of standing water on the track. Can't wait to get back out again to a hopefully dry track day at Rockingham on the 11th July.












So plans going forward:
Brake refresh, new discs all round, RC6 pads I think. I heard they chew through discs and I really can't be bothered with that, any other suggestions? Braided lines and fluid.

CAE Shifter. Soon as I'm back from holiday.

RS Tuning Map.

Potentially wheels if I find something I like. I do like the standard wheels however they don't sit wide enough imo.

Potentially KW Clubsports at the end of the year. We'll see.

Just want some nice subtle improvements atm, alcantara wheel etc, rear mat, Scroth harnesses maybe.

Yeah it does mate unfortunately but doesn't bother me.

And yeah thought about those too. I'll look into it more when the time comes.
Yeah just h&r springs but I can't get kw clubsports out my head recently haha. And wheels!!! Urgh!!!
