Hi, what are my options for better sound I would like a DAB but not sure if that can be done as Bluetooth seems to be linked to the radio? Also maybe a under seat amp but would not have a clue about wiring one up
And amps are quite simple with a sub but if you don't know what you're doing get an all in one kit! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sorry, RS250 cup I don't know what I am doing, I think it's a sub I need not a amp? Seen some on ebay but would not know where to start as far as wiring is concerned
You would need a sub and amp to power a subwoofer. You can get an all in one kit but no idea if the 250 standard sterio is gonna be able to handle it without a new head unit! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
these guys do renault dab upgrades: http://www.smithsmotorgroup.co.uk/renault/service-maintenance-offers/dab-radio-upgrade/
Interesting but a bit far, I am in Chester Would a Aftermarket head unit still work with the original controls? What about the special shape of the factory unit Sorry for all the questions, someone must have changed there's and have pic's and stuff
I think any Renault dealer can do the DAB upgrade on the Mk3. It is pricey but you will keep the original head unit. Give them a call.
you can still have all the steering wheel controls including answer / hangup but not the Renault built in mic. A headunit with bluetooth normally has a mic with it, in my case it also rendered my usb port and Aux port useless as they're all part of the Renault wiring. The Facia needs to be changed to fit a non standard headunit and then the wiring kit for easy fitting and to keep those steering controls. Also you would loose the information from the centre dash display, meaning it only displays 'Renault' all the time unless you have an RS monitor. Also changing the headunit means you can't adjust the clock Lots of things I've found since changing. I didn't plan on changing the headunit so had Amp / Sub and new front speakers fitted, sounded terrible due to bad stock stereo + amplifier, it would pick up all the noise from the crappy Renault wiring, soon as we fitted a non stantard unit it was fine. Sounds great but ended up costing more than expected. If someone knows a way for me to be able to use the standard usb / aux ports again that would be great
The clock is annoying - what does it show then? Just the incorrect time? I'm having the headunit replaced and a new set of speakers/amp/sub etc stuck in. Would be annoying to lose the clock as that shows on the RS Monitor on one display screen of that as well
It still works you just cant change it, so when clocks go back etc you can't update it. ...or if you disconnect the Battery i guess, unless you do it at 1am or something
I had the arkamys and just added an active sub and that's sorted it for me. Never have the music blaring these days so perfectly loud enough with an extra kick.
Place near me called audiofile Think it was about £80 the fitting, the active subs can be had from 100-250 dependant on brand/quality etc
Yeah as i upgraded the front speakers considerably it put me down the route i had to take, i've heard the above option works as it cuts out all the frequencies that cause the problems I had. ( at a guess)
What kind of active sub did you get and the watts? Looking to get one too. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I've been told by the guys working on the car that the clock can be changed using the steering controls, so that's good I went for Audison VOCE 5" components in the front, Audison ap 4.9bit amp, kenwood headunit and JL audio sealed 10" sub. John Kleis in Reading are doing the work, couldn't recommend them highly enough
You'll probably have to buy this adapter and majority of our RS guys use it, i can't think of any other brand. Depending on your car make: http://www.connects2.com/products/steering-wheel-control-interfaces/vehicle/Renault Here's the instruction to change the clock with an aftermarket Headunit. http://www.connects2downloads.co.uk/c2/files/InstallationGuides/CTSRN007.2.pdf We have pioneer and alpine users who swear by them.
I don't know anything about DAB or other headunits, but I had a Pioneer TS-WX710A installed and I'm quite happy how it sounds now! It just adds some decent low and you can easily control it with the remote that comes with it.
Why not have a look at the Auditec-Fisher 'Match' series? They plug in directly to your ISO connector, works like a charm for me. TomTom and all stalk controls still work fine, and I got a lot more umpf from my car audio!
A plug and play head unit sounds good, I guess I would need a surround to? Where would I get one of them?
Not sure about the UK, but in The Netherlands there are quite a few. If you don't go the subwoofer-way, a 4 channel like this would suffice : http://www.audiotec-fischer.de/lng/en/match/products/amplifier/pp-41dsp.html
