R26 iPod connector

  1. Is there anyway to install an iPod connector or aux cable socket into the standard R26 radio. If so can anyone recommend the bit and installation guidance. Would be good to know if it can be done to retain the wheel controls too?

  2. I bought one of these
http://bit.ly/YiRdsZ (eBay) then bought female to female adapter
http://bit.ly/HWipJn (eBay) then cut a hole in the tray below the radio and stuck the female to female adapter in! Means then it's hidden and don't have the cable flapping about

I have a r26 and standard radio and that just plugs straight into the back! I believe if you have a 6 CD changer it uses the same plug...so do check.

I'd upload a picture but I need to join tapatalk....lol!

    Hope

  3. Mine had a Renault tunepoint fitted which plugs in to the cd changer but gives iPod connectivity do you can skip tracks etc. they were about £100 from Renault though.

  4. I did the same, but without the female to female adapter. Just made a small hole in the back of the tray and fed the lead through, works a treat.........

  5. This sounds like the exact thing I want. I note eBay says the radio needs to have an "aux option", at present mine doesn't it only has CD and radio functions. If this cable is plugged in will an aux function appear?? Can you still use the controls behind the wheel?

  6. I think if you hold down the src button or one of them on that button area it will give you a menu to add aux

  7. Ok nice one.

    Cheers everyone

can't wait to move all the CDs out of my car!

  8. Yeah gave up CD's long ago! And sorry forgot to answer you yeah you can keep all functionality of the controls behind the steering wheel
