So this happened today - forced over by a lady with parked vehicles n her side, giving me priority. NOT happy. I'm going to get all 4 refurbed over the winter - need a second set of wheels, steels perhaps? Is this doable?
^^^That sucks. FWIW though, if she was already starting her manoeuvre to overtake the parked cars, right of way then becomes hers. It's not automatically yours just because your side of the road is clear.
I did one of mine after 8 months or no incidents last week. I was gutted. How much are tey to refurb?
Well, there was a road, with about 30 cars? on one side - i was way over half way down, she approached and continued to pull out into the road. Not a huge amount I could do shithappens. I'm not entirely sure, going to bodyshop tomorrow hopefully to pick up spoiler, i'll ask at the same time. I expect about 40 a wheel
Bodyshop quoted £60 a wheel - and to repair a few other dings on the car, sprayed and blended in for £250 which is very reasonable for the work involved and the paint that needs to be matched
Fitted R26r spoiler today. A long winded process removing the previous sticky crap, in all, about 5-6 hours of work just to remove residue. Really happy with how it's looking now. The roof bars do make the spoiler look a little off. Before During After
After realising the back box was full of water, assuming from condensation - it was creating a horrendous knock. so decided to remove the box and weld in a straight pipe and replaced the exhaust mounts at the same time. REALLY pleased with the results both with the sound and how it drives! Cutting off the old exhaust And yes, where the exhaust is a single system, the bumper had to be removed to get the exhaust out, which surprisingly was extremely simple.
Cheers pal Yeh, whole reason i was persuaded to buy it in the first place was because of that whistle; it holds the whistle so much longer now. simple and relatively cheap 'modification'
Few little bits done over the last few weeks - wind deflectors fitted and a recent dash cam, nothing much. Spent few hours over the weekend getting the car ready for the last small show of the season. 2 bucket wash, followed by de-tar treatment and spot clay around. Meguiars tyre gel and rainx windows. Photos taken by a photographer on the day. Not mine. IGNORE THE SCUFFED WHEEEL :'(
Cheers bud. Rainx is complete value for money for the way it scrubs up glass and keeps the water off!
Yeah, its all about the details lol, I can't believe I went so long without these windscreen products - I've tried Rain X, but I prefer Powermaxxed Rain-Off, its unreal, I've got it on all 5 windows now actually lol, seems to last a good 3 months or so as well, about half that on the windscreen Cars looking sweet Ginge!
Slight update: Track at Llandow - all day open pit, car didn't miss a beat and performed extremely well. The front wheels are odd above as they're running semi-slicks and below after the track day, as they're being refurbished. The rears have already been done, you can see as they're looking spanking, the fronts are currently at the body shop so track spares are currently rocking the odd look at the moment! When returned, had some nice weather so spent the day giving the car a really good going over. My method, with links included to the products I personally use. Can't stress this enough, find products YOU can work with. Not products that people tell you work well... Feel free to comment: - 2 bucket wash - first with decent soapy water, second with fresh, clean water. Hose off as i'm going round. Ignoring wheels - Loosely dry the car - 2 cloths, first to rid the water mass, followed with a second cloth ignoring windows. - Autosmart Tardis de-tar treatment over the entire car, panel at a time - Quick detailer (clean) as/after I de tar a panel - I know, demonshine, slate it, but from my experience, the price of a quick detailer used for cleaning off remaining chemicals such as this, or for clay lube, this works a treat... - Clay bar any remainder heavy spots on the car. - Then I go about taping off any areas I don't want the polish to hit and section off larger panels to work with using 3M blue detailing tape - Machine buffing (DAS-6) , this is a dodo juice, brand is irrelevant. - Firstly with Meguiars 105 hard compound with an Orange hex-logic pad - Wiped/cleaned with quick detailer again - Secondly with Meguiars 205 fine compound with a White hex-logic pad. -Finally, the windows I give a going over with Rain-x. I swear by this stuff. Gives the windows a really nice gleam whilst giving a nice waxy finish when it rains. Don't use the crappy spray bottle or 'screen wash additive' shit. The original is the best. and that's pretty much it... I havn't touched the wheels as they're early finished, but when I do, I use meguiars wheel cleaner followed by meguiars tyre gel. Not a great amount of picture of the final piece as I was in a rush to get off. The next clean, when the last two wheels are on, i'll get some better pictures. Comments and criticisms welcomed.
